Love this. I almost cried.

From the manual:

'Red flashing ears?

Your Hub has lost connection with the Microchip Cat Flap Connect.

• If you are seeing both ears flashing red during set up, please perform a factory reset by pressing the button on the base of your Hub for 10 seconds.

• If you are seeing both ears flashing red for prolonged periods after setup, try power cycling your Hub. Switch the power off at the socket, leave it for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

• You can also try moving your Hub closer to the Cat Flap. See point 1. of Connection issues.'

I was able to set the status for the cats that entered / exit the house through other doors, so i guessed the app was connected.

Fortunately, the feature is working again since a few hours after I made this post.

But I have problems lots of times with setting a cat as indoor only or not, as oftentimes there is a delay between button pressing and cat status update in the app. Maybe the manufacturer knows the feature is flawed and that's why it is so unintuitive to find it in the app.

We have Home Assistant but we didn't look into how to integrate the cat flap yet. Thank you for the tip.

Hi, did you manage to solve the problem?

I have it, too. Only that no unwanted cats got in yet, but after a cat with outdoor access goes out slowly, another cat who doesn't have outdoor access can go out next.

The Indoor only feature does not work anymore

Unfortunately the SureFlap app does not have the very useful feature of setting curfew time for individual cats so every evening I have to set 2 kittens as Indoor Only Pet. But this evening I keep trying to activate the feature to no avail, the kittens can go out freely. The message 'USER set CAT as an Indoor Only Pet' does not appear in the timeline and, when I go back to permissions, all the cats appear as being NOT indoor only. Did anyone else experience this?

I noticed that sometimes, when a cat goes out slowly through the cat flap, the door does not go back over the two locking thingies, it is stopped by them, so any cat can go out next.

Sorry, but I see a lot of obese cats on Reddit and most of their humans don't seem like they realize there's a problem, considering them being cute. They couldn't all have medical problems that led to obesity and they don't get obese overnight. So what's the culprit in most of the cases? Well, humans who are not carrying for them properly.

I myself have cats and once we had someone over who was surprised I opposed the fact they wanted to give some fat meat from the pizza to one of the cats because they felt pity for the cat who was asking for some. It breaks my heart when a cat meows because they smell something they would like to eat, but i prefer them to beg in vain than to get sick and I can offer them a little cat compatible treat instead.

I usually put a (smaller) litter box in the car, behind one of the front seats, when riding with cats. They find it to be the best place to do their business if they have to.

But if I am alone with the cats in the car, they would be in transport boxes, otherwise at least one of them might have the idea to walk around in the car, on the dashboard, on my lap, distracting me from driving; it's not safe, man. We can take breaks and see if anyone needs to go to the toilet or have some water or food.

But on all the long rides I had with cats I had my partner as a driver and also had an ice cream box with cat litter at hand for when someone had to vomit (this happened a couple of times on bumpy roads) and I was able to act quickly.

There is this cheaper alternative, but you have to put it on a table leg or something like a pole. An upside of this is that it doesn't get it your way.
