Sounds like mine did when I got my first acoustic kit. It had the factory heads (crap). I put coated heads all around and clear ambassadors on bottom. That made a huge difference but it was still too ringy for my taste so I added snareweight m80 dampening to each drum (gels work but don’t last long). Finally, I watched dozens of YouTube videos on tuning drums and learned what I was doing and looking for. Now I am very happy with how my kit sounds. You can get there too. Post an “after” video once you do!
Add a 16” or 18” floor tom and get better cymbals and snare head and you got a killer rig
I love the finish on the shells. Everything else I would upgrade, starting with heads. Then cymbals. I would only buy good cymbals, not entry level or even intermediate level. If you can only afford to replace 1 cymbal at this time, do the hi hats. Then start saving and replace the other cymbals as you can afford to, but again, only with high quality ones. WHICH ones is up to you, go into a large store and test them out extensively. Watch a lot of YouTube demos of the ones you THINK you are interested in before you make a purchase. Drums can come and go but excellent cymbals you will likely keep your entire life. But again, don’t underestimate what a difference new heads will make over those stock pearl heads.
I totally disagree I don’t like their cymbals especially the darks. But since he already has some maybe he likes them like you do
Wow with all that information you provided lol. What’s “a reasonable price”? What model snare drum is it? What are the tom batters like? Assume no bottom hoops or heads so that’s going to be a bit of an expense, possibly as much as the entire kit is worth. So if “reasonable” is like $60, then yeah maybe. But I would pass. Too many better used kits out there that are ready to play now for a couple hundred
Expensive but NEVER have to replace them and they don’t get gunked up like gels
Snare batter: Evans Genera Dry
Toms: snareweight M80
I love the Promark firegrain rebound 7A that you have pictured. Those are my favorite for playing steely dan etc
Mismatched symbols isn’t a bad thing. The hats and ride pictured here are great. This kit definitely worth $600 Canadian. As others have said, new heads and tune up will result in a great sounding rig
Other than being set up backwards and the kick looks like it was left in a hot car too long, I like it. Might sound better with a cymbal or two
Nothing to roast. I have the force 3005 in same lacquer finish and absolutely love it. I think the tom depths are different than your 3007 and my maple is Chinese but other than that identical? Great setup. I have the exact identical 16” thin crash. My ride is the 21” K sweet ride but it’s a bit too washy for me; yours is probably more what I’m looking for. Great kit dude
Sell some of those shoes to buy a better camera and more toms
Someone intentionally removed the ZBT painted-on label: The zildjian logo has held up remarkably well somehow lol
My wife makes me drum in my closet also
