Creative fields (like game development): double edged sword, in one hand some marketing agencies will pay peanuts for one developer to be a one-man army for an "buzzword experiment" for a brand. On the other hand an established game studio is still looking for a c++ programmer for more than 8 months and no candidate was found...yet.

I made a custom visual scripting module (based on xNode) so our designers can make abilities in a more visual way than writing json files.

They just have access to some predetermined events (like OnAbility/Canceled/Finished etc..) and some predetermined list of Actions (ApplyDamage, SpawnGameObject, etc..) with fields for the required data.

I didn't have a choice. My job specialty doesn't really exist in Morocco (some smol exceptions but not enough to call it a stable industry), I'm a game programmer.

The language barrier is HARD and makes them reluctant to adopt rapid modern tech changes (they still use fax). Even tho I LOVED my stay, Fukuoka is the best city I lived in, I'll rank it number 1.

Currently I'm now settled in Abu Dhabi, while there is no winter and summers are very harsh, there is also no tax and I love it. They are trying to build a video games industry here for the past years with lots of incentives.

If I ever win the lottery someday, with the current changes of work policies after Covid, I'll definitely settle in Bangkok. I only need good internet, A LOT of coffee and a power plug.
