Did you check out the first source? Nothing in it states that the colonial coat of arms influenced Somalia's flag. The words of the flag's creator flat out states what its real influence was.

There is literally not a single credible source that states Somalia's flag was influenced by Italy or made by someone other than Mohammad Awale Liban.

This is the best source I could find regarding the origins of Somalia's flag and nowhere does it say anything about foreigners making it. The blue represents the United Nations, the organization that helped Somalia gain independence and the star represents each of the regions that Somalis live in. Very clear and unambigous.

Furthermore, after the adoption of the flag, the Italian administration made an official statement congratulating Somalia for picking their flag and mentions NOTHING of Somalia taking influence from their colonial coat of arms or anything like that.
