Laws around magic: mage licenses, illegal spells, magic free zones Laws around weapons: who can own what? Theft. Property rights. Who is and is not considered a person? Where are the lines drawn? What can you own as a pet? What jobs require a license? What are the well-intentioned dumb laws? What are the antiquated laws that were necessary once upon a time? What rights do criminal defendants have? Are the gods active? What religious controls are there? What freedoms?
People are exaggerating greatly. What SCOTUS said is that if a president does something illegal during their official acts, the process for holding them accountable for their actions is to impeach them before starting a criminal trial. The president is mostly a figurehead who is nominally in charge of a massive bureaucracy that, for the most part, ignores his dictates. The SCOTUS ruling doesn't change that. Nor does it grant the president any new authorities. Nor does it make the president immune from prosecution. It just says if it was part of their job as president, they have to be impeached before they can be prosecuted.
People are wondering "What if the president has all of his opponents assassinated?" "What if the president abolishes congress?" "What if the president increases the gravitational constant so that earth turns into a black hole?" The president still doesn't have the authority to do any of these things, and if he orders these things to be done, those orders can still be blocked and ignored just as they have been for centuries.
During the Watergate scandal, Nixon wasn't sent to criminal trial, he was impeached, and he resigned before that process could be completed. Ford then pardoned him. America didn't end. Obama ordered the assassination of people via drone strike. This was within his official duties, he was not prosecuted, and we still have a country. Trump broke all kinds of laws before, during, and probably after his presidency. He's still facing criminal prosecution for those.
The SCOTUS ruling didn't change anything. No president has ever faced criminal charges for their conduct. Instead, they've faced impeachment. The SCOTUS ruling merely confirmed that this wasn't a coincidence or mistake.
Rising from the dead. Their mana is spent passively to remain motile when they should be corpses.
Whole life policies are sketchy. The rest is what I'm doing with my family's finances.
Yes. And this order is bonkers insane so this would be a textbook time for the VP to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Does Captain Marvel join the fight? She wasn't in the films yet, but as the first avenger, I could see a case for her inclusion. If so, earth wins easily.
If not, earth wins about 15 minutes after Stark gets the Hulk aboard the mothership.
As a Tiberian Sun fan, it took me a minute to realize you were referring to the older games. NATO would crush these guys like a grape, and then lose.
The difference between wars and reality is that in real life, the war doesn't end just because you blew up all the enemy buildings and killed all the troops on the map. Wars go until the country you are invading gives up fighting. This means that it's not enough to establish military superiority. The enemy need to give up. Given Nod's fanaticism, this is unlikely. Afghanistan is known as the graveyard of empires for a reason, and it's not because they're a serious military threat.
Nod can't "win". They can't invade and defeat NATO. But they can survive, like an insect burrowing in the sand, always ready to rise up and strike again when the coast clears.
It was an official act back then. That's why they were impeaching him, not trying him in a criminal court. He stepped down and got a pardon before all that could occur. As I understand it, nothing in this decision would have impacted how things played out then. Tapes might not be admittable as evidence at a criminal trial, but an impeachment hearing is not a criminal trial and congress sets its own rules which the supreme court has minimal authority to contradict.
As I understand it, once a president is impeached, they can then be tried as normal.
The RNC sues, has the order blocked. Easy peasy. Could try to impeach Biden but invoking the 25th Amendment might be easier.
Edit: The Supreme Court said that certain actions are tried by impeachment before they get to the criminal courts. If you think the President can just issue orders and things get done, you have no idea how the US government works.
She thinks the porn is about her and if she were good enough, you'd be satisfied. It has nothing to do with her. And that's why you need to quit. Because you can't be fully in a relationship with her while sometimes working in secret to betray her. She's right to feel betrayed. Your porn use hurts her more than you can understand.
I've been watching Rookie so I was thinking of Elijah Stone, semi-competent gang leader. It would not have been a long fight.
Some people are in abusive situations and they're being gaslit into thinking they're at fault. They need an outside opinion and they need it anonymously so that their call for help doesn't land them in more trouble.
I have a lot of people I'd go to for advice long before I resort to Reddit, but some people may not have that option.
All sin is worse than we imagine it is. It is not your place to condemn or punish, nor to excuse or ignore. My advice: watch out for yourself in this vulnerable time, don't neglect your wife to care for your friend, but after that, be Christ to the lost.
I doubt there's much that could be done to speed up the process. Most of the necessary technology won't be ready until after WWII.
Countries have been trying to create a flying aircraft carrier for awhile. That would be the major thing.
Logistics is a huge part of military operations. Most modern militaries are unable to wage offensive war because they lack the logistical capacity.
OP made no mention of a TikTok and didn't cite his sources. Do you have a link to the video?
German army can't do much against the Jaeger. Bombers will eventually take it down, because the Jaeger doesn't have an effective counter. And even if they don't, the Jaeger will fail due to lack of maintenance and support.
In a nightmare scenario, Germany reverse engineers the project and starts making successful wonderweapons.
Charles XII. 15 year old boy is the greatest military leader the world has ever known: brilliant in war, loved by his men, fights on the front lines, unbelievably lucky. It's like something out of a badly-written anime.
I still can't figure out how he took the city of Krakow without his army. Only him and 50 bodyguards wielding canes and unloaded muskets.
I feel like the pacing is fairly slow and relaxed. Is that the feeling you're going for? If not, you should be able to cut the length in half without losing anything, and it'll make your main character seem more in a rush and anxious.
Well, if they listed that we'd be able to check their math and see that they're misrepresenting the truth.
Sex forms a permanent soul bond to the other person.
I need a metaphysical consequence for losing one's virginity.
