wrong, youre over cooking it. you cook meat with collagen to 203 to render collagen, tritip is like a sirloin steak, not much collagen and very tender, you render fat only. brisket, pork shoulder, ribs high collagen, cook longer till toughness rendered out.

you need to train your feet in your hiking shoes.

Please look into sock liners, they go between your feet and socks and they absorb the friction that causes blisters.
My advice, wear your shoes, liners and socks, then go hike somewhere with decent hills. Work up to 500+ elevation gain and something like 4-6 miles or so, more if you need to, to get the elevation. Then do this 3 times a week, once with a fully loaded pack and trekking poles.
I use merril mtm mql (i think thats the name) for shoes, I like those better than boots.
