I got a dual sport for that reason - ‘93 DR650. Definitely not for everyone, if you buy a DR650 make sure it’s post 1996. Pre-‘96 is a pain in the ass to find parts for.

It’s great if you can deal with the heat and humidity. Some other great options in Texas would be Boerne, Austin, even Lubbock is nice if you don’t mind the desert.

Sold mine and regret it, but not so much that it keeps me up at night. I used the money from the sale for life experiences aka travel. Worth it imo.
