We have the same 3 fav (Kirishima and Kaminari are tied for third for me)

Honestly though, Todoroki and Hawks have, in my opinion, the best backstories of any of the characters. And then I just love a sweet, dumb boy

I understand the thought; in my opinion these are the top 3 of the 90s, 00s, and 10/20s respectively but I don’t think that translates to generation. As a millennial (1993) I could actually take one from each as the most influential of my life

While I totally understand the disappointment in a badass FMC losing her powers, I think it’s important to remember that Aelin considered it a blessing to not have to deal with the enormity of her power.

Just something to keep in mind to help with the sad feelings. :)

SJM is a girl’s girlSpoiler

My absolute favorite aspect of SJM’s writing is her ability to write a gratifying female friendship.

Aelin and Lysandra,

The Thirteen,

In ACOTAR: Nesta and Emorie and Gwyn

No jealously, only love. All were made better by these friendships. Just makes me heart so happy to see.

What are some of your other female friendships in SJM’s writing?

KoA Quotes that I am guaranteed to bawl at Every. Single. Time.SpoilerRant/Rave/Review

“‘You have been very brave’, her mother said. ‘You have been very brave, for so very long.’ Aelin couldn’t stop the silent sob that worked its way up her throat. ‘But you must be brave a little while longer, my Fireheart.’”

“Take it off.”

“And far away, across the snow-covered mountains, on a barren plain before the ruins of a once-great city, a flower began to bloom.” (Really the entirety of chapters 89 and 90)

“For across every mountain, spread beneath the green canopy of Oakwald, carpeting the entire Plain of Theralis, the kingsflame was blooming.”

I’ve read KoA at least 4 times and come back to these passages when I need a good cathartic cry.

What are some other quotes in KoA or other books in the series guaranteed to make you cry?

Crying at this little detail in KoASpoilerRant/Rave/Review

“For Terrasen, she had gladly done this. All of it. For Terrasen, she deserved to pay this price.”

“The Lord of the North reared up, jutting Goldryn higher into the sky, and Aelin unleashed a flash of fire through the ruby—the signal the army behind her had awaited. For Terrasen. All of it, for Terrasen.”

“Ren scanned her again. “You gave up everything and still came back here. Still fought.” “All of it for Terrasen,” she said quietly. “Yes, I know,” Ren said, the scar down his face stark in the rising sun. “I understand that now.””

And then:

“Rowan twined his fingers in hers and whispered, awe in every word, “For you, Fireheart. All of it is for you.””

I don’t think I’ve ever not cried at the last sentence of the series, but I love thinking that Terrasen was showing Aelin that it knew what she had given for it.

1000% agree! I’d love Feyre to have friends outside the IC.

I just did my 3rd reread of the series and only just read ToD for the first time.

I cannot recommend reading it enough.

Not only is there SO MUCH information in it, it’s a nice break from how intense the last few books in the series are.

Hope you enjoy the last couple books and the rest of your journey! :)
