Not much exciting honestly. My favorite spots been under water for a month.
I’m in Texas. The odds of anything happening are less than minimal
I'm not sure how identifiable it is from the photo. There's a lot of species from India we can rule--all the sand boas, the pytas, most of the vipers, the pythons, the cobras...but it could be a kukri or a keelback. And I'm not entirely comfortable ruling out some of the elapids that occur in India. Hopefully someone more familiar with India, particularly Kerala, will see it
Heh. a few years ago my parents got me a stuffed alligator snapping turtle as a gag gift since I've wanted one since I was a kid but, well, practicality and legality are against that.
Now if only my kids would give Bob back...
Yard pets are awesome. All the coolness, none of the cage cleaning or feeding bills.
Looks like Mark/Marcy got into some eggs; rat snakes tend to absolutely love eggs and birds as a snack.
For fuck's sake put your goddamn salary rnage in your job postings. Just...jesus christ. 2 hour round trip drive for a job that pays less than goddamn 40 a year. Could have saved us ALL time but no
Go in the morning or at dusk. Wear long sleeves. Move slowly and both watch and listen carefully. Bring a good flashlight if going at night. And don’t forget to look up in trees and vegetation
Male fully fired up, in Oklahoma over memorial day.
There's a reasonable amount of Indians (continent) people in Oklahoma
I don't think I'd trust milk from the bars I used to drink at
CDs were mainstream by the time I was in high school I think--graduated in 02. I know I had cassettes as a kid though.
VHS vs DVD...I won a DVD player in a drawing at freshman orientation at college so that was when I got a DVD player. They were significantly better than VHS, and since the tapes were all my folks I basically just rented DVDs from then on.
Define podunk? I've lived in a rural county of ~9k people for the whole county. And in a city of 150k. And now in Dallas.
My preference is definitely for smaller cities (say 50k to a few hundred thousand).
I think they should stop hiding and let me see them. They and prairie kingsnakes have eluded me for years
Eating veggies consistently. Digestion is so much better
Chuck will’s widow. I know several parks that I can reliably hear them at after dark but cannot lay eyes on. Frustrating
I once played a screech owl call off Merlin for my kid—he thought some doves calling were owls so I was going to play him a barred and screech owl so he could hear the difference. We were in a small neighborhood park a little before dusk. Imagine my surprise when a real screech owl started calling back.
I think I’ve gotten better at traveling in a way my family and I can both enjoy. It meant dialing back on some stuff but that’s ok.
I LOVE regional travel. Drive somewhere cool within 6 hours drive. See one to two, maybe three if they’re small, things per day. Spent at least a couple hours a day just chilling. The hard 12 hours driving each way GO GO GO type of trip? Eh not so much
There’s been a family of foxes here for a couple of years
Anyone else have foxes in their neighborhood?
