On my street at least, there is 0 impact in terms of parking and traffic. Agree with you totally. If anything, it's a little easier for us as we don't have people using our street to cut through, and the neighbourhood kids can play more freely in the front of the house.

As someone who lives directly facing this section of the QED, I'm super excited about this. It'll be so fun to have activities and liveliness for the summer! This kind of activity can really benefit those of us in the neighbourhood. I honestly wonder sometimes about these people who are so concerned about "noise" that they can't open their lives to a little spontaneity and fun.

OP, I agree with you. This is a great example of systemic racism. A lot of the responses here are of the "why would you want someone to mess up your hair?" variety, which demonstrates a level of privilege as it assumes that there are lots of other options and you can just go next door to the 4C specialists - this of course is not the case. What ends up happening is that common Black hair types are considered a specialty, not "the norm," while common white hair types remain "the norm." For this to be rectified, hair training would have to have basic training in all hair types, and then stylisys/businesses could choose to specialize (in colour, in asymmetrical cuts, etc.). I think this is a problem with the schools rather than the businesses or stylists themselves, although certainly the hair industry takes advantage of this by inflating the prices of products/services for 3C/4C hair.

Newborns are 0-3 months (or sometimes 2 months, WHO actually says 28 days). Infants are ~3-12 months. So a 6-month old baby is still an infant.

I see that there are a lot of people posting that a potentially workable solution is that one parent does drop off and one does pick up. But as a single parent (who would do both) this rule would be a reason to switch child care providers for me. Also, thank goodness you don't take transit - can you imagine what a mess that would be?

There is a free lactation clinic for 3 weeks pp at the hospital I delivered at. I went all three weeks, got three different specialists, all recommending something different, all juggling four or five other clients at the same time. That experience did a lot of harm to my breastfeeding journey and was of very, very, very little help. I now see a private lactation consultant and pay out of pocket - breastfeeding is finally improving. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Buyer beware.
