If you can't put the ground outside then try running it to your homes interior grounding lines (it's the wire that either has no casing or has a green casing) don't connect the ground to your black or white wires that would be dangerous!

Just for a frame of reference the very first piece I put in a CNC lathe I crashed on. Four years after that I was a programmer and guys with 20 years experience came to ask me how to do things. A lot of people would've quit after that first day. I chose to focus on never letting that happen again. 27 years later, I make a great living selling CNC equipment.
