There is a growing number of Pelicans living in the UP. Not exactly the same thing, but birds turn up in weird places.

I love it, lol

hmm. When r/michigents meets r/trailcam :D

Fun picture. Bobcat is one of my favorite animals to catch on my cams.

Don't worry, it's a GPS collar!

They are super bad this year. I would imagine we are screwed, lol. Ticks can survive frost. I'm not even sure they die in the winter; they might just go dormant. I don't know the latest others have found them, but my personal record is November. Especially those abnormally warm, sunny days.

Haha, no problem! I welcome all wolf discussion on my posts. I love wolves and think they are magnificent, but that doesn't mean I don't support a potential season. I think we really need to try harder to move away from a discussion of hate though and more a discussion of science and facts. However, that requires the DNR to actually start putting in some serious leg work on giving us accurate counts, an actual predator-prey study, etc etc. It also requires people to start looking at the middle ground a bit more, imo. Using your own post, I don't believe that is necessarily how wolves learn to hunt. However, wolves do surplus kill, they do create food caches (a lot of animals do), and they probably do it more than it has been documented or the DNR wants to admit because it looks bad, but not to the extent that they are actually ruthless killing machines that kill everything in their path. A middle ground.

Idk, I'm just a guy on the internet :) ultimately, I blame the DNR. I think they need to be way quicker and A LOT more transparent, not just with wolves, but overall. There's a real chance we have a predator problem in general - too many bears, too many wolves, too many coyote, who the fuck knows how many mountain lion because they are always just "passing through" and no one seems to want to maybe really look into it. If I was a deer I'd move to Indiana or something probably. Also, someone needs to definitively solve the genetic debate.

Cheers, man! I grew up in Newberry. I'm over that way pretty often. I have an itch to fish the Mighty Tahquamenon right now actually.

East/Central area, pretty deep in the swamps.

Ugh. I know it. For some reason I always forget to fix it with this particular camera :[

Yeah, he has a tracking collar. Younger male wolf. I've undertaken a fun hobby of trying to figure out if he's started his own pack, because he's well outside the range of the pack he was collared in. Waiting on some DNR communication about it. I'm hoping they let me name the pack, lol.

Bummed the picture has such bad light. Younger male wolf. If you look closely, you can see his tracking collar. I get this guy on camera a lot more than his friends. He's very active.

Oh shit, I had no idea. That's awesome.

A lot really depends on where in the UP you are moving to.

Just bring them to the side of the kayak, slip your hand into the gill plate, raise the head a bit out of the water and then use a pistol grip hook remover for a little added length.

Sorry for the late reply! This sub isn't very active.

Of course, check out everything the campground has to offer! Can hit up Betsy Lake area and some of the trails that connect to it for hiking. A little drive can take you over to Oswald's Bear Ranch in one direction, or head into Paradise and check out the Superior shoreline around the river mouth. If they are open Brown's Fish house and Fishery is the best fish in the UP and I'll die on that hill. Plenty of food trucks and other options as well these days though. Continue your drive up to Whitefish point and check out the small shipwreck museum and also learn about the migrating birds.

Have a good trip!

Feels odd knowing this off-hand, but you can check Rubmaps, lol. Just google it.

Crazy what sort of weird shit you stumble across on reddit comes back to help.

I don't know, I think the vinyl coating helps it hold up better. Either way it's doing a better job and has lasted longer than the cables I got.

This system definitely runs into this issue a lot. I have been told that I over tighten it and it ends up breaking it, which maybe I do. My fix was I bought the smallest diameter dog leash from walmart and measured it out. Hasn't broken yet.

Yes. I have seen a lot of people jump and a few people take a kayak over during my years working there.
