Agreed. Xbox can only live in the past for so long. They need to just enjoy the uptick on FO4 and 76 and move on. By the time they even got a remaster out the door, this momentum will have passed.
Why this show wasn't planned for a release alongside a major new Fallout release is beyond me.
I'm not sure what's actually happening behind the scenes, but I do have a guess. It feels like MSFT bought into Phil's vision and strategy for the division, but are just fed up with the lack of results over the years. It's been a series of missteps over and over again and MSFT corporate finally had enough and is stepping in try and force profitably. It's the wrong approach, but I don't blame them. I'm sure they've been hearing "Wait until next year" more than even the fans.
The simple difference is the type of parent organization. Microsoft as a total corporation has a much lower tolerance of risk than the gaming division. You can see that in the decision today. Any studios that took risks and failed are shutting down. Xbox is focusing on known IPs (lower risk).
The sad thing is that within the last year many of these studios applauded Microsoft for giving them the chance to try something new and take some new risks and lauding their support.
You heard it here everyone. Keep taking creative risks, but your job depends on their success.
Death by a thousand sequels.
His middle manager is going to see some real advancement when they take credit for all that hard work.
I don't know honestly if we would absolutely be better. I do however know that Kirk + a DROY is closer to beating San Fran than Kirk without.
Pretty simple logic.
Then we overpayed. That's the part about the Penix pick that we all somehow fail to address. If Penix plays in 2 years, we failed cause we paid Kirk too much. If Penix plays in 4 years cause Kirk is great, we failed because we drafted Penix to have him sit through his entire rookie contract in lieu of getting help at other positions.
Backup plans are a luxury in the NFL.
I mean, yes and no. My library is largely locked into Xbox but that's not keeping me from switching. Bounced over to PS5 and haven't looked back.
Old games are great, but that's not really why I buy a new console, it's just why I keep my old one.
And now with cross play being more prevalent, I don't have to worry about leaving my Xbox friends behind... Oh unless I'm playing awesome games they can't like Helldivers 2.
It won't be a Falcons draft unless we pick 2 kickers and another QB. Defensive picks are for rounds 4+.
You know only one of the QBs in the room is on the field at a time? Well unless you're the Saints.
Honestly I think they're outsmarting themselves. My guess is that the reasoning is something along the lines of "If Kirk ends up being amazing, then he plays for the next 5 years we won't have a low draft pick and have no chance at a good QB, but we won't need one cause we have Kirk. If Kirk doesn't play well then we have Penix who will play well so that we don't have a low draft pick and have no chance at a good QB, but we won't need one cause we have Penix. It's Win-Win Mr. Blank!"
But in the NFL there are too many constraints and too much competition to try to succeed with multiple conflicting strategies. You must put all of your energy, focus, salary cap, draft capital towards a single vision, because that's what the other 31 teams are doing.
What about Penix makes you feel secure about the QB future? If I'm going to gamble with an 8th overall pick I'd rather gamble with something I need right now and not 2-4 years from now.
Dude the comments in that post are largely all positive. They had the ultimate game manager Alex Smith at the time. Not the same at all.
Let them reach for the position then.
Not to mention he'll be 26 years old by then. The Falcons just needed to commit to an approach to win and not reach for a position they don't need. Also I'm sure Cousins hopes that if he plays well he can get extended at Atlanta. Falcons basically telling him they don't have faith in that.
That's ridiculous. Nearly every college prospect "refuses to fail". The bottom line is that the Falcons reached for this pick, in a position they didn't need. I could see if one of the top 3 prospects fell to them and it was too good to pass up, but the Falcons just drafted for a position they didn't need, when the positions they did need were 100% available, and they reached for second round value to do it.
I'm listening just fine, I just think it's a bad idea. You have to develop games for your least common denominator. It's the reason something like the new Ratchet and Clank is only on PS5. The quick movement between dimensions is only possible with that high speed hard drive.
If you force forward compatibility it means that any game on the next Xbox can only be as advanced as the Series S, just upscaled at 60fps and 4k (maybe?).
It's a fantastic marketing term that is bad for Xbox gamers ultimately.
And a complete hindrance of the future generation.
The really great PS5 game HiFi Rush! Seriously though, the best Xbox game of this generation was a hot drop that got a delayed release on the other console.
That's a no for me. After this gen I have absolutely no faith in Xbox's strategy or capability. I don't care if the console is 100x the power of the current gen because all we'll do is play old games anyway.
They'll probably end up requiring feature parity with mobile anyway.
Beautifully made!

Correct. XBox console market share is so small that if PlayStation were to reciprocate, the damage to the exclusive PlayStation brand would be more harmful than the increased revenue from XBox gamers. This is why they will release on PC but not XBox. Microsoft has far more to gain by sharing exclusives to PS than the other way around.
If the Xbox console market share shrank by 50% because people are unhappy with losing their exclusives, but Microsoft sold their games to 50% of the PlayStation players, they'd come out wildly ahead.
