Hello,
My wife and I got rear-ended at a stoplight on 08/12/2023 and our EV6 is still in the body shop. Yesterday, 11/15/23 we were told the car was done aside from the battery tray on indefinite backorder. As shown in the Imgur link, the damage was significant, and lots of work needed to be done. It took me all of 4 minutes to point out significant issues with the repairs. Ranging from paint damage that was just clear coated over to the new body panels not being gapped correctly. There was a wheel strike as well and they said it was only a control arm that was broken. But now I am doubting the quality of service my car has received. I do not know enough about EVs to look at the car myself. but I suspect corners were cut. One indicator of this is that the picture of the interior of the trim popped out is still popped out and will not return to how it was before. This makes me think there is a deformed panel behind it that was not repaired. All of this is in service of asking how I verify my car was properly serviced and what protections do I have in the US for finding issues in the future?
Thank you in advance
Update: $26,000 in repairs and I still don’t have my car back. Nobody know how to properly do the repair near me. The collision repair shop had to send it to Chicago for the batter tray replacement because there is a high temp epoxy and Kia won’t even sell it to their dealerships. So they are trying to figure out how to fix it.
