The only thing I agree with in your theory is the fact that they have Lily Rabe playing such a small role. She is big talent!

My two favorite theories are Barbara and Tommy. I feel like it’s too obvious to be Tommy because they’re pushing that theory way too much. But they aren’t even touching on it being Barbara. I am such an avid true crime consumer that the first obvious choice is Rusty, but I don’t think there’s an inkling of possibility that he actually did it; and then there’s Barbara, who seems like the obvious second choice. I understand that Rusty and Raymond aren’t even thinking to implicate her, but the wife finding out about the affair and killing the woman is an obvious and glaring motive.

I’m a hotel GM so I will break it down for you.

• You have the cost of the materials. And let me tell you, I’ve gotten estimates on things in the last year that were more than five times more expensive than they were in 2022. So they probably gave you a rough estimate for the cost and then realized it was going to be a lot more.

• Then you have the cost of labor. Again, much higher now since Covid because it seems that every trade is short staffed now.

• Then you have to cover the cost of the room being down for the duration of the repairs.

They likely quoted you what they thought it would be, based off previous costs, but the cost of everything went up.

I was promoted to GM at this property and my GM drilled the Choice University training down our throats at that time so I did all of it in my first five weeks at the hotel. My next GM didn’t so no one else ever did it. And now, corporate doesn’t even require it anymore. But I appreciate you letting me know that because that will be a great training tool for my staff once we get there. I don’t recall much of my training from three years ago either so I will start brushing up on my own training in Choice U as well. I appreciate the heads up.

I’m the GM of my property but we have a management company that oversees us. We also have a brand with standards we have to follow, in addition to our management company rules. Their rules state that the only time employees (front desk) should be at the desk is when they’re helping a guest; the rest of the time, there’s so much other work to be done. We don’t have a chair at our front desk. In my office area, I have a chair at my desk but I very rarely use it. All of my employees are part-time (mostly five hour shifts) and my state doesn’t require a break in that time. However, I tell my staff that if they need a break, they can take it.

If you need accommodations, you can contact HR and request reasonable accommodations. You can Google what this looks like. I have a staff member who is pregnant who used ChatGPT to help create her accommodation requests.

I spent many years as a social worker in a management position for CPS (Child Protective Services). More often than I care to remember, we’d have parents claiming to be sovereign citizens which means we couldn’t remove their children. Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately) we couldn’t remove for this reason, but they always had plenty of other issues going on that would warrant removal. Unfortunately for them, this didn’t stop us.

You had the sign on wrong. This was your fault. Your sign told HK to go ahead and come in and do their job. Perhaps the HK couldn’t speak or understand English well. Or they didn’t hear you well. Or perhaps they have a policy like mine where guests aren’t allowed to turn HK’s or other staff away. Most hotels have policies now to get into rooms to check on guests. Due to OD’s, other deaths, damages, etc. I’m the GM of an extended stay and guests aren’t allowed to turn staff away. If you need a few minutes to get dressed or whatever, they’ll give you that but they’ll get into those rooms.

I haven’t had a dog since I’ve been a parent but I have a 5.5 year old daughter who loves animals, especially dogs. Of course she wants to pet every dog she sees but we’ve been working on etiquette for years now. First and foremost, you need to ask 100% of the time. And you need to do this before you approach. And even then, you need to go slow (even though I know you’re so excited), stay back and extend your hand first. Listen to the owner if they have any specific instructions on how to approach the dog as well.

I’m the GM of a busy, pet friendly hotel and my daughter is there daily, in my office. We have dog treats at the desk and I have one employee that will leave the desk EVERY time a dog comes in to go love on it (after asking). She’s a very cautious and responsible dog owner herself and will often take my daughter with her to love on the dogs, if the owner says it’s okay.

So despite not having a dog ourselves (yet!), my daughter has been trained well on how to interact with them.

I have heard this so much. Surgeons would not be running trauma in the ER or dealing with patients that crash or really anything that’s not directly surgery related. We see all of these surgeons doing the nurses work and everything a regular doctor would do. But in reality, a patient barely sees their surgeon, if at all.

I would like to know this as well.

I’m the GM of an extended stay and our office closes at 10pm every night. However, we have on-call staff that live on site and answer the phone [in their rooms] throughout the night for any emergencies, late check-in’s, etc.

I have never heard of a hotel like this but it sounds like an absolute nightmare. I, too, have had to evacuate the hotel in the middle of the night (short staffed for on-call so I had to stay at the hotel a couple of weeks to work the night shift) due to a small kitchen fire (we have kitchens in our rooms). I’ve also dealt with other emergencies in the middle of the night. This is absolutely insane to me and I would assume they’re either not insured or their insurance is insane. We have protocols, and a management company that likes to micromanage us, and brand standards and so many “what-if’s”, I can’t even fathom this!

It’s not a “big” if. You need to fucking educate yourself before you open your mouth.

The biggest point that you’re missing is that he wants to get rid of our democracy and just stay in office, aka Power, indefinitely. You keep saying “when he leaves” but that’s literally one of the biggest points of Project 2025.

I haven’t read the book but people that have say it’s a completely different story, with different characters and nothing like the show, so there’s no ending there.

I think whatever works best for your family is what you should do.

My daughter is five. Before the end of the year she was in pre-k and still napped. Now she goes to camp M-F at the Y and they don’t do naps. She use to go to bed at 9, with naps. Now I try to get her to sleep between 8-8:30, with no nap. Sometimes it’s closer to 9, depending on her ability to fight her sleep. She wakes up at 7. On the weekends, she falls asleep whenever she wants, usually around 10, unless we’re doing something that keeps her up later, and then she sleeps later in the morning.

I’m a single parent and I use to work two jobs- social worker during the day and a PT job at night, this was before she was in daycare and just had a sitter. She napped during the day and the sitter would keep her up for me at night, otherwise I’d never see her.

When my now 18 year old son was little, he went to bed at 7 until age 9, then we moved it to 8.

Families have different schedules so I think whatever works best for your family, as long as they are getting enough sleep.

It’s not odd. If you’re under the umbrella of a brand, you are often required to only have brand-approved signage. As a Choice Hotel myself, we are under the same rule. Most brand standards, in many hotels, have similar rules.

Edit to add: most hotel GM’s do not have access to change what is listed on the national website either. Some hotels are franchised, some independently owned. But if you have a brand, usually there are many other locations across the country/world with the same name. Just because my guests in BFE, US don’t understand how holds work doesn’t mean that all guests across the board don’t. Your comment seems much more odd to me, that you’d assume a GM has access to the website for changes and that you assume a brand would add an oddly specific caveat to their website.

I’m the hotel GM so I’m the one who deals the most with the OTA’s. They’re a pain. And if you book OTA, my hands are often tied to help you.

We have a linen cart for dirty linen. We use individual linen bags for clean linen. We have linen bags that have all the linen needed to put the room together (we wash EVERY piece of linen after EVERY guest, even the shower curtain).

Why is it such a big deal?

OTA’s are a huge pain for us hotel workers as well as the customers. Customer service is terrible, no one can get anything done, when they mess up, they don’t do anything about it and the hotels often can’t do anything either. They treat us terribly. This isn’t about a preference, it’s about a quality product (booking direct) to an off-brand, scammy, predatory , uneducated and unethical third party.

I just started watching about a month ago. And I know it’s not super sci-fi themed but it also led me to Dark Matter, due to the sci-fi theme. I’m upset they’d cancel it too. Especially on a cliffhanger.

I’m watching the episode right now (I am okay with spoilers and I just seen with the next comment that he does show up) and I was convinced of the same thing.

Donna’s character reminds me of my own mother. But my mother has never gotten better, she’s still awful to this day and I’ve been no contact since 2015.

I have three children but I was having a miscarriage one time, at the hospital, where my mother drove me and she left me in the ER to go visit the ER herself to score some pain pills (one of her many drugs of choice). After many hours they released me and I just wanted to go home and cry and relax with my (now ex) husband. She made me wait with her cause they’d given her a shot of opiates and they wouldn’t allow her to drive herself home, so I had to, in the middle of my miscarriage.

I had my first baby a week after I turned 18. She was there while I was in labor. She knew I wanted my baby’s dad to cut the cord and hold baby first. They gave me my epidural after being in labor all night and everyone left and went to eat and smoke so I could get some rest. Right after they left, baby was in distress (cord around her neck twice) and they rushed me into an emergency c-section. My mom came back up and didn’t tell anyone else and I was so out of it when I went into recovery, she ended up holding my daughter first. That was 22 years ago and I’m still upset about it to this day. My other two births, she was not even aware I was giving birth, let alone there.

I usually keep mine at 74°, 73° if it’s really hot. I’m on the second floor, facing outside. My last electric bill was $67, I think. And that was mostly a month with it running on 73°. I’m not here during the day during the week and I’m usually out a lot on the weekends as well.
