Valid ask but I would have asked before I bought it... but some smells Gain, Tide, and Scent beads... are very... strong and they can trigger reactions very minor scents like you described likely will wash out but I have got things that were soaked in softener and scents and I legit have to wash things many times + soak in vinegar to remove the smell.

Many... people think your laundry needs to smell 'good' but it is more like they're soaked in perfume that could cause an asmash attack.

As other said it could be health related, response to either you or your mom even stress can trigger this. It could be something going on with the dogs health or stress level too my dog who almost always sleeps with me was not consistently sleeping with me when he was going threw a serious allergic reaction to well life. He got an allergy shot and within the week he started sleeping with me again.

It could also be also a maturity level thing too. If your dog was a puppy when you got them 3ish is when most dog move from a more puppy mentality to adult mentality and they’re like hey my human sibling is cool and I like them. Their room is cool and their bed is comfy I shall now sleep here!

I understand where you are coming from. My sisters MIL is from Mexico she thinks all these people looking for free handouts are idiots her parents and family came here 50+ years ago because of the jobs not the free handouts they got.
