Or maybe this can be interpreted as “idiot officer attacks man who he believed was the attacker and got stabbed by the actual attacker”. Seems like incompetence among police officers is not a unique thing to the US.

You’re wrong. I still have my complete medical autonomy and never got the vaccine you all are so afraid of.

Says the party that worships their candidate like if he's a god above everything. Who is out there waving flags "Trump or Death"?

With the advent of GenAI, I think it would be really cool if you could create an app the is a ChatGPT clone as an example. Just a simple SPA app with the ability to chat with an LLM.

This ass backwards way of thinking really concerns me

Yeah it shouldn’t matter at all if the person you’re voting for is a convicted felon

lol hasn’t been relevant in 20 years? Come on 😂 Silver Linings Playbook, The Irishman and Killers of the Flower Moon were all bangers

We already facilitated the rampant growth of the cartel in Latin America…why not just ship our criminals over there? Great plan!

Definitely been more than 100 years. Rich Dallas residents and the city itself managed to absorb smaller cities such as Oak Cliff through various methods.

Oak Cliff was its own city until Dallas annexed it in the early 1900s. As far as I’m aware, a rich Dallas investor came to Oak Cliff with a proposal to build housing as long as the city of Oak Cliff helped front a certain percentage. When building finally started the investor fled, leaving the city of Oak Cliff in a very bad position and had to turn to Dallas to help them out. Resulting in the annex.

I’m using Oak Cliff as an example because this housing facility will be built there, in case that wasn’t obvious.

You can cite all the evidence you want that doesn’t pertain to Dallas specifically, but it’s painfully obvious to anyone who has families who have lived in Dallas for multiple generations that the city abandons and pushes their poor/homeless residents to certain parts of the city

(To preface I’m not trying to be combative here, in case I come off sounding as such)

I understand it affects every part of the city, but it really seems that Dallas likes to push their homeless only to already unsavory parts of the city. Why not build around the medical district, or lower Greenville, or across from Uptown (City Place I think?). Why Oak Cliff that has struggled for many years and was finally on the rise? It’s a multifaceted answer I’m sure with not just one reason to point to…but it just feels like more of the same with this decision.

I understand that the motel was already abandoned and owned by the city. I agree that this allows it to be put to good use, but to me…that area just does not make sense. Close to very busy streets that are only busy because of traffic (since like I said, it’s filled with shady motels, abandoned warehouses, storage units, and car lots) and close to a major highway. Or maybe that makes it the perfect location, but to me it doesn’t make sense.

I hope, for the sake of the community and the homeless, that the city has a good strategy.

I get you, for sure. I personally think you could do much worse than Garland though. Also, when it comes to the inner suburbs of the city, pretty much every nice neighborhood is surround by a few bad ones.

Just want to make it clear that I don’t think bad of your choice to move out of Garland. Everyone should prioritize their family’s security and I’m glad you did what’s best for you and your family.

You mean the 100 year evidence of the city of Dallas segregating and pushing the poor/homeless into corners of the city and abandoning them?

Where’s your evidence of a Supportive Housing facility thriving and helping the surrounding community in Dallas?

Dallas has a 100 year history on segregating and pushing out the poor and homeless into corners of the city. Lulling them in with plans of building affordable housing and spurring local business only to abandon them a few years later.

Oak Cliff for many years was fucked over by the city, and in the last decade it was finally showing improvement. This could be a major setback in my opinion.

If you know the that area, it’s not exactly conducive for getting homeless people back on their feet. If the city invests in the surrounding areas to bring in local businesses, maybe it will work out. Lots of abandoned buildings, super shady motels, and storage buildings.

I’m with you. People antagonizing you are speaking from a point of privilege. If this was going to happen in their cozy neighborhoods, they’d be livid.

I understand the need for homeless shelters, but Oak Cliff was fucked for so many years and I truly felt like it was on the rise the last decade…this could be a major setback for the community imo.

How long ago did you move away? Completely valid reasons for moving away of course, but it does seem like Garland has improved in the last decade-ish

Yeah, I completely agree. It’s a privilege to be a kid’s parent that can and should be taken away if they aren’t good parents. If the parents failed the child enough for their rights as parents to be taken away, shame on them.

It’s so bad. The west has an incredibly bad habit of generalizing people based on extremist behavior

No no no you must be wrong. Religious institutions can do absolutely no good.

Prof York is the coolest motherfucker. Real, fair and insanely talented.

Don’t know about the rest at Dark Age though.

Cause it’s provocative and the right gets off on doing things they know will piss people off

I had to pop in a Starbucks today during my run to take an explosive dump. It’s never happened to me before. Thought I was gonna die…

I also took the vaccine, could my painful explosive dump have been a side effect of the vaccine?!

I sincerely doubt this only because I doubt they even know all these ethnic groups of people. Like most Americans.
