Syndicalism is a socialist school of thought developed by French socialists in the late nineteenth century. Essentially, the idea is that a labour movement should organize the workers through Industrial Unionism and seize the means of production through organized industry wide strikes and social ownership.
This means the basis of government is found in the workers union or the Syndicate, hence the name. Each Syndicate would own their workplace like a factory as a collective and would manage it democratically without the need for an overall owner or manager beyond a democratically appointed leader if at all.
As a result, most syndicalist nations are highly democratic and very decentralized. The full name of the Commune of France is the Federation of the Communes of France, and is more accurately described as hundreds of towns and villages and dozens of urban cities acting as confederated league.
Totalism has risen to prominence because this decentralized system has caused quite a bit of chaos as any highly democratic system would develop, and its official goal is to more efficiently guide and lead the revolution against the reactionaries who would attack them such as the German Empire.

Another one is Federalist Compromise, where the Federalists compromise with Fengtian and Zhoulin’s son becomes president with Chen Jiongming as Prime Minister. A Democratic republic though one with a strong president and a politically involved military under Zhoulin.

I remember another Chinese general and warlord (during the early twentieth century) was also very superstitious. His name was Wu Peifu and he was also a skilled politician and general. His opponents in the Fengtian Clique would always be paranoid of where Wu was and what battles he was conducting, as Wu would usually wreck his opponent.
