I did like Susan, but ultimately when "SHE TOOK THE JOB", it showed that she didn't care for him enough, especially as Brando turned down his opportunity.

Swap Andrea and Kelly, so Andrea with Steve and Kelly + Brandon. Think Andrea and Steve actually go well together. Agree with the rest though.

When Brenda and then Dylan left, it made sense that BK are together (as the main characters, plus they looked good together), and large parts of seasons 6 & 7 build up to them getting back together.

I might be in the minority, but I actually quite liked Brandon and Kelly. I agree that in the first few seasons it didn't seem that they had much in common. I thought that changed in season 4 though, as Kelly seemed to mature a bit more and they started hanging around when Brandon was on the task force. To me, it seemed like a relationship which blossomed over time.

We then had the Dylan soulmates thing so they broke up/ Once Kelly had got over her cocaine period, the writers slowly built them up to end up together again and it did actually work in my eyes. They had a lot of sweet moments together like the ring, magic wand etc. Also, they were the 2 main characters, so I think they had to end up together in the absence of Dylan and Brenda.

The only criticism I have is that when they got back together in season 7, the writers made them seem like a boring old couple in their 40's. It's almost like they had replaced Jim and Cindy as the mature, wiser old head that the gang went to for advice.

Also, the Brandon cheating in season 8 didn't make any sense. I mean, he helped her through the amnesia ordeal, went to hospital daily, tried so many things to make her remember, only to end up cheating a few episodes later.

It's right up there, along with Dylan's flashback/cowboy dreams.

I think they both talked about getting married a few times e.g. when Kelly was pregnant, when she had amnesia etc, but it was being saved for the final show. Unfortunately, Jason left so they were left with Donna and David, and the forced relationship between Dylan and Kelly.

I thought she was okay to good, but was further elevated because we had Noah, Matt etc who weren’t great. For example, I don’t think she would’ve been a main character in the first 5 seasons. I hope that makes sense?

Because the writers for the last 2 seasons didn’t know what had happened in the previous ones, and reinvented the groups history. Those writers were awful, and seasons 9 & 10 are a very hard watch.

Think there's a few storylines to choose from.

1. Noah being kidnapped.

2. Dylan's wild wild west dream and Kelly being his soulmate.

3. Dylan and that older lady on the farm.

4. Most Noah related storylines.

Yes it was yet another stupid season 9 & 10 storyline. I think the writers ran out of ideas, so thought it would be a good idea for Kelly's "love rivals" to go away on a trip.

I guess Matt didn't say anything because he thought he might get away with not admitting the truth, even though his love rival witnessed it.

Yes, and it wasn't even much of a highlight. Probably not even in the top 3 of relationships on the show.

I think the show was on it's last legs, and the actors/actresses knew it. The storylines were bad, especially after Kelly and Brandon got back together. It should've ended with their wedding at the end of season 8 but they limped through another 2 seasons.

A year at the most. The Dylan and Kelly story of seasons 8 onwards was an afterthought as the Walsh twins had left, so there was no one else left that they could be with. Plus, their "history" was retconned to make people believe that they were soul mates.

Being honest, I don't think Kelly pined for Dylan much at all. She did however pine for Brandon just after Colin left, and this continued for about a couple of seasons. I know a lot people don't like them as a couple, but at least Brandon and Kelly seemed like a relationship that could actually work in real life.

I remember when the news hit, I started looking through the articles on Luke (I'm from UK) as there was very little coverage. Then exactly a month later, my Dad passed away suddenly as well.

Another strange storyline from the series 8, 9 & 10 writers

Yes it was strange. I read somewhere that he wasn't happy with the storylines, and also how Brandon had become. I'm fairly sure he said Brandon was a "sanctimonious prick!" Also, wouldn't surprise me that he could see the ship sinking and wanted to get out before the end, hence why he stopped acting. He did later admit that he wished he had stayed till the end as he knew Brandon and Kelly were end game.

I have no idea on the producing though.

I think even worse than this, is the way they handle Brandon's exit. The main character of the whole show, and only Walsh leaving, causes barely a ripple to the rest of the gang. Then again, there are so many weird things which happen in season 9&10, including but not limited to:

Dylan becoming godfather to Steve's child

Jack McKay was alive

Gina and Donna sharing the same father

Noah being kidnaped

David the well known west coast rapper having to become a car cleaner

Val leaving to live with her mother who she hated

Dylan stating that he attended Kelly and Brandon's wedding but no one knew, and he disappeared

Dylan suddenly became a philanthropist

Kelly getting raped again (because Dylan was high and needed rescuing)

The Walsh house being used by others

Kelly and Dylan ending up together through default

Everyone forgetting that Brandon (and Brenda) ever existed in their lives

I think Kelly saw Val as a threat, especially as she was living in a house with her then boyfriend (Brandon) at the time.

I'm from the UK as well and bought the DVD box set on line a couple of years back. The company I bought it from don't sell it anymore, and unsure why. I think it might be because it was the last one they had and it still has all the original music which you can't get anymore.

If you Google Beverley Hills 90210 box set then you can get from Ebay and Amazon, plus a couple of shops. You just need to make sure that your DVD player is compatible.

Alternatively, I think you can watch on Apple TV or Amazon Prime.

I think from season 7 onwards, the writers didn't know what to do apart from bringing Kelly and Brandon back together in season 7 (the build up was great), only to split them up with the wedding.

As you say Valerie was strange. She was molested and her dad killed himself, but later she shot him etc. Then she got date raped, had numerous "the one" male characters. Then her mum and Kelly's dad became a couple!!

All the characters had strange moments in the latter seasons. Kelly got raped again, Donna turned into a druggie plus became promiscuous after 10 years of being a virgin. I could go on and on.

This would have made for an even more satisfactory end. As it is, I think there are a lot of Kelly & Brandon + Brenda & Dylan fans that are already unhappy. Donna & David were not even close in popularity to the other 2.

I think there were enough relationships between the group, so was good to have this as plutonic. Also, the writers were building up to Kelly + Brandon getting back together, so a relationship would've pushed Kelly over the edge.

If Val and Brandon did, then she would've completed the set of the main male characters (Dylan, David, Steve, Noah plus Ray).
