It’s gotten more expensive in the recent past as well. I’ve been riding an “entry level” gravel bike that cost £900 for the last five or six years. The same model in this year’s range is £1200. It’s a big % jump. I’ve just bought a bike at £3000 as my first upgrade, immediately prior to an apparent price refresh as it’s now £3300 on the website.

I’m a fairly recent convert to SPDs having avoided them for four years or so - mostly because of fear. I wish, in hindsight, I’d done it earlier… but that in no way means they’re a must. I feel better in them… and love my shoes 🤷‍♂️

I have that watch and like the strap, but it’s been my daily driver for four years and the strap is looking very shabby now. Looks great on the mesh, I’ve been weighing up getting the Certina one for ages but it looks nice on the Forstner

I have / had a few kgs to lose. As much as I love cycling and consider it my main form of exercise, I would say that my weight loss accelerated when I started doing resistance / strength training in the gym

Gizmo :Verified:

Ahhhh my BSH is called Gizmo too. He never kneads the dough though

Moorth Ruins. It the (or at least “a”) way to get down to the lower plateau (Bonny Village)

Went into a ruin, climbed up a ladder, exited through a well into a new zone tonight. The sheer nerve of these guys!

Not a direct answer to your question, but I make use of Komoot (other route planners available 😁) to plot VERY quiet road rides. You’ll get to learn your local area better than you believed possible. I love road riding but hate cars - wise route choice and timing choices can limit your exposure.

Folding bikes seem like a good fit for people with a city commute who need to take their bike on the tube / metro / subway 🚇 but not sure they make sense for recreational riders? I think you’ll find the weight a pain in the ass. But it might make you very strong 🤷‍♂️

Could just be an age thing, could be genetic. I couldn’t sprout anything of significance from my face at 18. I still can’t grow a full beard now and I’m almost 40 🤷‍♂️

Rock sling worked quite nicely for me

Could for you. I feel like overstuffed sausage in some of my kit 😂

Wear good shorts with a pad… when I first got my bike I thought “nah” and did a 10 mile ride. Then I bought shorts.

The Midlife Cyclist by Phil Cavell. I’m 39 and reading it to get ahead of the curve 🤣 finding it to be an entertaining and informative read.

It’s my main on my current playthrough which is hurriedly trying to get to a DLC ready position.

Level 95

Vig 35 Mind 25 Str 16 Dex 16 Int 34 (with Rennala hat) Fai 24 Arc 12

I don’t know if it will remain my main for the whole play-through, the intention was to be a pure caster but I find that really hard to do early on. I am really liking it though (but I’m leaning on the weapon skills a lot).

I have Prince of Death staff and the Golden Order seal for casting things. Only just collected these and not sure if they’ll stick. Going to play with death sorceries for a bit.

I started at 35.

I’m still consistently improving and getting more invested in cycling. It started as the least unappealing way to get fit… now it’s a hobby that I’ve joined a gym to help me get better at.

I don’t think 40 is too old by any stretch. It’s changed my life for the better in quite far reaching ways and given me some amazing experiences.

Goals can be whatever you want… I cycled up Mt Teide and did Ride London 🤷‍♂️ did I win anything or even go particularly fast? No. But I feel a personal sense of achievement in having gone from a sedentary lump to someone who does those things.

I didn’t do much gaming through my teens and picked up a console in my early 20s. Mostly played Witcher, Fallout and Skyrim… nothing prepared me for Elden Ring 😂

Nothing on a lot of these… but my biggest climb was Vilaflor to Mt Teide summit. About 1000 metres. The rest of that ride was downhill 🤣 that’s my biggest day climbing

I fought them last night with a SoNoF Spell sword build. Not too bad though I’m almost definitely overlevelled at 95

Officina Battaglin Portofino R. It’s just so damned pretty.

I did Ride London this year and I swear every other rider was in LeCol.

Not worn it myself. I would be interested in what people consider the best bibs are though… I only have 2 pairs - winter and summer. In my limited experience Endura pad is way more comfortable for longer than a Northwave one.

What’s the best?

(Sorry if this is a hijack but seems semi relevant)

I’m currently using Sword of Night and Flame for the first time and loving that. Never had the right stats for it before
