I had to read the chapter “working with others” over and over. Still do sometimes

Maybe OP should go to beginners meetings and freely pass on what was passed on to him/her. A lot of time people stay stuck doing the same old thing, meetings with same old people ect. Shake it up. OP has been given the gift of sobriety and the gift to be able to help others. Or if one doesn’t feel that way perhaps they quit working the 12 steps or were brought through the 12 steps improperly. Are you happier with this answer and is it better than suggesting “prayer”? OP asked the question so I don’t even know why you’re getting bent out of shape with the answers they were given.

This is How It Works – Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average.

That’s good. You seem to be on your way. That being said meetings are very important.

That’s what the 12 steps are designed for and more.

If you don’t mind me asking, what step are you currently doing out of your work book? How long have you been in the work book?

I’d suggest going to minimum 1 big book step study meeting a week. I find them non-dramatic and with our primary purpose the focus by being in the “solution” and not the “problem”. Good luck

Good I am glad you are familiar. So now I figure, if you can be honest with yourself, which one of these you may fall into at the present time….

They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average.

There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest.

We definitely have our ups and downs. It’s suggested that we continue with writing out 10s and 11s daily. And of course 12 step daily. Helps us grow spiritually, no? Something in the BB referring to “he failed to enlarge his spiritual program.” Rings a bell.

But as always…have you turned how you feel into your higher power?

Yes but seeing as most of the political active ones don’t like him speaks volumes to me.

I agree. It is an illusion. The elites do already have our candidates stamped and approved…..except it doesn’t seem that way for Kennedy so far. Sounds like he wants to shake up the system and elites. The will probably kill him if he gets to far.

I am assuming your door is wood. Could be moisture and sounds like it. In would recommend removing the door and taking it indoors to work on. Use a dehumidifier if the room is highly humid. Take all hardware off then sand your door. Make sure all edges off your door are not sharp. Sand them slightly down to more of a slight curve. Paint down stick to good on sharp corners. After sanding and vacuuming wipe down your door with denatured alcohol with a lint free rag. Paint one side at a time and let it sit quite a while to dry or carefully flip on to painting triangles, using many to evenly distribute the weight and not leave dings in the wood. When done let it sit to cure as long as you can. For the time being you can get a cheep piece of plywood cut and make a temporary door if you need until your door is cured. I know it seems like a lot but you will be amazed at the results you get if you take these extra measures that may seem like inconveniences. I just did my front door this way but installed a screen door until it was ready. I wanted to knock it out before the summer heat really kicked in. Good luck

So you attended Alcoholic Anonymous meetings? What’s your idea of “sober for a while”? And lastly did you have a sponsor and actively work through the steps with them? One more thing, what does your sponsor say about these two drinks?

That’s awesome! Glad you have him there for you. Some of us don’t have people to help us because we’ve burned our bridges or our parents have passed. You are on the right track!

Your dad loves you. He wants to see you get better and stay better. You yourself said you have been slacking. You’re lucky your dad is helping you and concerned about your recovery. There may come a day where he won’t. I’d get a little grateful and Thank him because obviously you don’t know what’s best for you. Good luck

Anywhere else should be fine and more reasonable. Health care is lacking here as well.

Agree. Get yourself to a in person meeting and raise your hand and ask for a temporary or regular female sponsor. That will be best for you.

How long was it stirred for?
