My 1910 king is like that. With certain mouthpieces, I have to use the longer Ab tuning slide to tune to Bb.
Up to the top of the bathroom wall (they built out the basement themselves - I'm about done trying to polish that turd), over the top plate, back down the outside wall 20 feet away, and then through a wall penetration to that short little hose outside.
Fixing this issue will be quick and very temporary while I redo the utilities in the garage correctly. Going to have to move the furnace, plenum, and add in a new water heater to get everything where it should be. I suspect this entire sub would get a kick out of just how hairbrained some of these ideas are. When I bought the house, I spoke to the wife/owner. She said "oh my husband is very handy. He did all of the work on the house!" Guess who gets to deal with the kitchen floor deflecting downward 2.5". Structural engineers ftw.
New homeowner here. Temperature-pressure relief valve has been PVC plumbed to have a 1/4 turn valve (it's been closed this whole time) off a tee pointing down, then the other side of the tee sends the plumbing up to the joists, across the garage then down and out to drain/vent to the backyard. Is this safe?
I figure the quickest, easiest options are either to keep the valve open, or just rip the whole thing out. Appreciate any suggestions.

Piece of cake, but if I didn't have the extra tuning slide, I would have been trying different mouthpieces. Yours is the first I've seen besides mine with both tuning slides.
Awesome. I pulled mine out last night for its first gig in around 20 years. Sounded great, but I had to swap on the longer Ab tuning slide to get it to play a concert Bb in tune. Serial number on mine puts it somewhere around 1918 at my best guess.
I'm assuming yours says the same "Pat May 17 1910" on the brace below the mouthpiece?
It was a joy to play it again. I've always enjoyed playing up in the higher range, but never managed to consistently get above that high D (2nd above the staff). On this one, I easily jumped up to the F, and then somehow got the Bb above that. I was blown away. Enjoy this horn. Treat it well, and don't drop the bell section into parking lots while walking into gigs.
At the time, the Beatles also had a thing for Stax. They wanted to come to Memphis to work with Steve Cropper, but couldn't quite make it happen. Instead, they put out Revolver. Crop had some high praise for it.
Zig passed several years back. They kept the lights on for a few years beyond that, but I think they finally closed the doors in the summer of 2018.
