LOL so I never did tracking because I didn’t think it worked, I served in Italy. Everyone is VERY catholic. I had a terrible companion force me to go out in public (not door to door - at least exchanged were less invasive apartment complex doorbell ringing) and proselyte. I thought it was so disgusting, a. to intrude on people’s boundaries (I grew up in a mixed faith household, I knew how intrusive that conversation can be for some people) and b. To try to intimidate and physically corner me until I obeyed her. I was SO pissed, that I finally agreed and stormed up to this poor innocent man sitting on a public bench presumably enjoying his lunch break and still angrily said “hi, do you believe in god”, to which he hesitantly replied yes and said “great” still really bitterly as I walked away and my comp chased after me. She started to tell me how awful of a missionary I was… chastising me in public for not wanting to bother someone knowing that proselyting doesn’t work like that and I blew up on her. I never yell, I’ve been with my husband for nearly 10 years and have never once yelled at him, I sure as well don’t yell at other people, but she was out of her god damn mind telling me that I was in the wrong. After I screamed at her and stood up for myself, she cried and said she wanted to go home, which I was down for lol. She didn’t talk the entire way home.

This same companion forced me to do role play (I hate it and i do much better in real genuine scenarios) once, I asked her first if she believed in god and then went from there. We switched, she did the same and I answered no, thinking that was a very realistic answer and would also help our language study to take rejection and learn when to walk away from people. She LOST it on me, apparently I was being too difficult, clearly she just wanted me to give her the ideal scenario. What’s the point?! Missionaries have gotten even more cringey than they were getting when I was on my mission 2015-2017, using Facebook as a way to reach out to randoms, making weird social media videos, etc. It’s not a good look that’s for sure.

I adopted an abused reactive 9yo border Aussie from the shelter when I was dealing with an insane amount of narcissistic abuse, he literally saved me from killing myself. Loads of training and learning, he was attached to my side, we were best friends the moment the shelter worker brought him out to me. He jumped up on me and was so excited to play, he just knew I was safe, it was so sweet. He unfortunately passed away 9 months later, he touched my heart so much that my life felt so empty without him. 3 weeks later I found a 9 week old Aussie whom had already been passed around to three houses.. we took her and our beautiful girl Charlie is nearly 6.5yo now!! I continued training with Charlie as a pup because I enjoyed it and as you would know Aussies are very food motivated 😂 Charlie has been a huge emotional support and comfort through these last few years, I’ve healed so much because of her. We also had a border collie pup that we got six months after Charlie, whom unfortunately unexpectedly died in December 2022, we all have suffered TREMENDOUS grief over that. The hardest part has been seeing Charlie’s grief of losing her sister. We have since gotten another border pup who is obseeeessed with Charlie, she has helped Charlie’s confidence grow and anxiety lessened by an insane amount. Charlie is doing really well now and every time I’m having a hard grieving day, I just grab Charlie and hug her forever until she kisses the shit out of me and goes to grab a toy to make me feel better (playing makes her feel better/less anxious, so she assumes that’ll work on everyone else lol), I look at her and see so much growth. This is the happiest she’s ever been and knowing that we’ve accomplished that after losing two amazing dogs too soon, we were still able to give her the life she deserves. She’s been through so much. In fact, my husband and I lived with my parents for about a year due to immigration and one of Charlie’s all time best friends is my parents dog sammy, we’re actually driving from California to Toronto in July and August, just so Charlie can see Sammy again. We’re SO excited, we hate this drive so much and would only ever do it for Charlie. I’m a photographer and cannot wait to take those photos 😂💕

It feels unsafe because you’re not used to it. In fact, standing your ground and settings boundaries is definitely what you need. Maybe find a new therapist or different type of therapy. Don’t stop working on yourself because someone else is being an ass

It’s of course easier said than done, but just like anything else, it’s absolutely a skill we can learn. I’m hitting 4 years of therapy now and while I’m still a big work in progress, I’ve seen myself grow so much. It takes years to deprogram just as it takes years to program. It’s a long ride, but for your own autonomy, please try to learn this along with setting healthy boundaries (look up how to do this on google, loads of resources available), it is LIFE CHANGING.

I’m sorry for what you’re going through OP, just knowing that you are supporting your child by showing up will mean the world to them, even if it doesn’t feel that way. My dad was ex’ed when I was 9, he had to wait on the outside for both my sister’s and brother’s weddings. My siblings were very happy to have him there and made sure they also did a ceremony for the people that weren’t worthy TBMs. They had their dances, had lots of fun and had the support they needed. For reasons beyond our control (which I’m now happy about lol), my temple wedding was cancelled and my husband and I rescheduled a wedding date to just have my family attend, only 50% of my immediate family could be at the temple, so we decided to just get married in my parents living room. Each one of us has left the church, each one of us had recognized the relationship and behavioural patterns in our parents and our relationships are changing that way. Your kids will remember if you show up, even more special to them knowing how hard it might be for you. There are ways they can include you and their opinions should matter more than your local wards opinions. I’m not saying it will be easy for you, it probably won’t, I’m just saying try to shift your frame of thinking to just being there to celebrate your kid! You never know how beautiful your relationships might get 💕

Smoking weed with my dad is probably the most I like being with my dad, he’s a good guy but he’s got loads of issues he doesn’t care to change 😂he’s still always there if I actually need him. If you can be better than my dad, you’re already kicking ass and who knows, life might get really really fun for you guys. Long game 💕

OH MY GOD, if something is wrong enough that it needs to stabilize, maybe the initial system isn’t working out very well. Every functional societal system that has any relation to money in the US needs to be completely red rapped and evaluated.

Are things like this not something the public can push back on or vote on? We do not have a liveable or functional system currently
