Safety is relative in a way. Is it FDIC insured? Yes. Is it the safest place for your money? Maybe. Would some boomer bank paying less interest and less FDIC insurance be safer? It’s possible, however what if you’re above the standard FDIC limit? What if the alternative is losing money via opportunity cost?
They are recommending a more conservative approach. Good or bad that’s up to you. The safest place is in a fireproof safe under your bed.
Munich has the best transit out of everywhere I have been in the world. Despite being very drunk and knowing next to no German, got around with ease.
I think you are confusing RTP with FedNow
There’s still time to delete this
Technically 11:45 is same day by 15 minutes.
lol
So you’re scheduled to get the money the next day? Not only are you illiterate, you lack the ability to do basic arithmetic.
Wealthfront has two classes of products
- A cash management account that offers 5% interest
- An investing platform.
The cash management account has no fees.
The 0.25 fee is on the robo-advisor portion of the investing platform. A robo advisor will choose what index funds to invest in for you given your desired risk profile.
If you want 1:1 to a bank, then just use the cash management account. In time you may want to start investing too, but with $1000 to your name you probably want to build a bigger cash nest egg first.
Having a similar issue with an epomaker/cidoo board. Trying to set MT(MOD_LGUI, KC_CAPS) and the thing just goes absolutely nuts when held invoking both shift keys and the spacebar. Works absolutely fine on my other board. It was an adventure enough to get VIA going on this thing lol.
Some keycodes like KS_LSPO also just do not work at all
SIPC absolutely would, WF is a broker.
The sketchiness comes with cash management. WF works directly with banks. Yotta used third parties and was literally pivoting to becoming a gambling platform/casino.
SVB was an actual bank covered by FDIC and withdrawals were delayed from there too. What’s to stop Chase, BoA, etc.
If you are in excess of FDIC or SIPC, you would not get it all.
Not sure what you mean by a “reliable” debit card.
Customer service of any online fintech/bank will lag behind a place with a branch where you can physically talk to someone.
WF’s actual tech is what makes me a big fan of it. The ability to set up an automated saving plan where I can frequently invest is what actually builds wealth as opposed to the deltas in cash account.
If strictly a cash account, there’s not much that really gets me excited besides the interest rate. Betterment will refund all ATM fees I think, but so does my physical bank (Navy Fed).
WF does have free wires and same day withdrawals which is nice though.
I’m a software engineer about 10 years out of school and am at the top of my industry in a sr role in big tech. I’ve mentored lots of students and coworkers.
The most true thing you’ve said in this post is that you have no clue what you want to do after college. From wanting to major in 3 things, it’s also sounds like you do not know what you want to do in college. Now here’s the kicker: if you studied CS exclusively, you would be in the same place of not known what you wanted to do in/out of college.
Is CS a very tough field? Yes. Are there still incredible opportunities in it? Also yes. I went into college thinking I’d be doing some sort of mathy computer modeling and my first job was test automation for modems, then mobile app development, then big data, to now mostly DevOps things. I had absolutely no idea of what I wanted to even do in CS and nearly everyone I’ve worked with in industry has had a similar path.
A lot of people also just absolutely hate CS. The number of students I’ve mentored who either think it’s IT or just can’t grok it is unbelievable. I can really only speak to it since I’ve lived it, but lots of people get weeded out. Back in high school I wanted to be a doctor until I took AP chem. Big yikes from me.
I have friends who even did CS with a film minor and others who did CS with film certificates. I have friends who just did film. Career success varies widely based on a mix of talent and circumstance for everyone. Triple majoring would have only made everyone more stressed.
My advice here is to take a broad variety of classes early to see what you enjoy and focus on a particular major later on. I had to drop a double major in political science to graduate early and just focus on CS. Very thankful I did. Focus on taking classes that give you the confidence that you either do or don’t want to do something. It’s absolutely ok if it doesn’t turn into a major.
Not to raise the dead, but I think I figured this out

Garbage plates and Bills Mafia behavior are more of a western NY thing exclusively.
Yeah I mean the first time he tried to raise rates, DJT called him an agent of the Chinese Communist Party
I maintain a web property with over 700k visitors a day. It’s bundled with vite just fine
You can always just keep the card locked and just unlock it if you need to withdraw from an ATM https://support.wealthfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049560391-Lock-and-unlock-a-debit-card
There are limits on the card by default https://support.wealthfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048501391-Limits-on-transfers-and-spending
We don’t do that here. We prefer subsidizing billion dollar sports stadiums to billionaires.
