Since you have evidence, I would give your council district office a call. Tell them you filed the 311 report and they closed it without investigation. The city would also want to see if he has a business license even. Good luck.

You won’t find a ton of new homes in LA as people don’t realize how old the region is. For now though, I would rent to get settled and then once you know you want to stay, look to purchase.

NAH. Everything you posted sounds reasonable and something all couples who decide to cohabitate go through. You posted you are willing to give up space, items and compromise. Just not move completely. Now you need to see what he’s willing and not willing to do and realize he has the right to suggest other options. Then take the relationship from there.

Make sure your remote job will allow you to live on California. There are serious tax and employee protections/benefits which they have to make adjustments for.

Nope. I would not start applying for jobs unless you are ready. That is why I suggested just looking now and getting a sense of things.

Now you can set up a linked in profile and alert for jobs which maybe a good fit. I would not let one qualification out of several discourage you. When you are ready, if you see a posting that you feel like you can do and grow into, apply. In this world… not just LA, you have to fake it until you make it.

Good luck.

Yep! Foothill transit buses are pretty comfy and reliable. Also you can bring on a bike and maybe even a e-scooter on Metrolink.

You have a good start. Now you got take it as come. You know you need to save and get a job first. I would focus on saving as much as you can (with a job at least $10k) and seeing what sort of job postings are available now and the qualifications. Tailor your resume, consider some certifications.

Honestly, who knows what the world and housing situation is going to be like in 2025. I would just google average 1 bedroom rent and go with that as a baseline. Or maybe a little more… it maybe a little less. Focus on saving and getting a job first. Worry about those others things later because with those two ducks in a row… evening will fall in line.

Good luck.

Nope! There an unspoke wave of older folks coming because they cashed out equity/have grandkids here/want their last act to be in an accepting place. You will not feel out place nor have a lack of things to do where you are welcome. Besides, at 50 you are hardly a senior.

It can be both. There are some films that touch you in a way that leave you both in awe and in immensely uncomfortable because of their content. I have several movies that I have loved and never rewatched. The same with TV shows.

Agreed. That was the part that just made say WOW. She struggled with it. But there were many points that Donna could have made the whole situation about her but did not.

My mom was not nearly as awful but she had a lot of insecurities which caused her to latch on to me and be quite controlling as a child and teen. It took me therapy to see what was happening and I am glad to say that over the years she has improved her self and her treatment of me. People can improve themselves.

It depends. Do you plan to stay in LA the entire time or will you go home during the summer? Are you looking to stay in California, like establish residency while you are here or are you okay to wait after graduation if you decide to stay.

I would have a sizeable savings first. Something like $12k. Then you can land get here with a nice cushion, find a roomie and apply to the various vet hospitals. You can do some homework now on how much they pay. It’s not terribly lucrative but there is jobs. On the side I would recommend pet sitting. My friend runs his own dog walking/sitting business and does great. He is not a vet tech, but is pet CPR certified and knows how to give injections from the experience from his own pets, so that puts him in great demand.

Good luck!

You have so many awesome things around you being in Santa Monica, aside from food. You will be fine

But not too far, on Sawtelle there is Tasty Noodle and Dan. There is a 99 Ranch in Westwood now and Northern Café. But realize that migration patterns here in California were completely different than in New York. So you’ll be chasing that New York Chinese high until you get back.

Yep. There’s even YouTube reviewers of the most common types you can get. All you need is a U-Haul and a free weekend. We are surrounded by states that enjoy good fireworks.

That square has to be Pete or I SWEAR to GOD.

Absolutely! But to be honest, for some reason here in Central L.A. the stores just have giant packs and they are much more expensive. I don’t cook Indian all the time so the last time I got a pack from the Indian store the Wheat Chapati just languished in my freezer for months.

Yep! My family had a booze room during Covid because they knew the government was going to cut the supply.

Yeah. I think they stopped Alcohol sales during initial Covid lockdown sales too. When shit gets serious, Mexico forces you sober.

Good option to start! You’ll be all set!

Good luck with your studies!
