Viator. The exact tours are linked in this thread. Highly recommend both.

We are missing the area classic Don’s Lunch on this list.

Hot Suppa also makes a great burger (wish they were still open for dinner).

And then Harmons and Blazes are solid.

Woodfords F&B has a delicious burger too, but it’s not a smash burger style.

I’d do Terlingua for lunch, then walk down the hill to Belleflower for a beer. Then you can hit one of the other breweries, or Apres (seltzer) or Three of Strong (liquor tasting room, great cocktails). And then zip out through the park to the airport. Street parking in that area.

Planning for washing - we brought these on our recent trip to Europe and they were awesome for sink washing.

The Cotopaxi allpa larger size (42L maybe?) has the backpack straps with waist strap AND a shoulder strap plus grab handles. So you could make it work on a packed train, or while walking. And they fit easily in the overhead on planes.

I had the gyro plate (basically deconstructed gyro) and it was a huge amount of food, with a cold Mythos to wash it down. Delicious. Their skewers are cheap and delicious but each one comes with fries - fair warning as we had more than we could eat!

People have called the cops. And he’s still out there frequently so I’m not sure how much good it does.

You haven’t encountered the guy at Morrills Corner who bangs on car windows and yells at people then huh? It’s scary.

We came home with a few leather bags, an ornament made by a local artist and a beautiful cameo (since we were in Sorrento).

I have the 35, and when not fully packed, I’ve fit it under the seat in front of me. I freaking love that bag and have used it camping, for weekend trips, for cross country and in Europe recently. Only complaint is there is not a water bottle holder on the bag exterior.

You are sick and taking care of two sick kids. And he just doesn’t want to be an adult who is capable of getting himself up quietly and out the door without mommy locking up.

He’s an entitled AH, and needs to check himself or move on.

Just flew through Athens and Naxos and didn’t have to pull out my bag of liquids. That said, I had what was allowable so maybe if I had more it would have been an issue.

I also know lots of people, Portland is a small town. There are many concerns for school and community groups. It’s okay to acknowledge that, given that scheduling is currently very challenging. Adding more can’t possibly make it easier. I know many PHS and community group athletes, there are a lot of concerns. You saying there aren’t doesn’t negate it. Neither of our opinions matter, anyway. Time will tell!

Part of it is the excise tax being tied to registration. In MA, I paid excise maybe every couple of years and it was manageable. And in the meantime, registering my car was like $35 for the year.

Here, depending on your car value, it could be hundreds to get that sticker, if not more. Lots of people don’t have it. And in Portland you also need an appt if you can’t do it online, and appts are limited. I am guessing these all contribute.

We LOVED Naxos. Wonderful island, villages, people and food.

Agreed, they are obnoxious. And if it’s clear I am not interested (because I say “no thanks”) then you continuing to talk at me is certainly not going to change that.

This is why he’s divorced and dating someone 12 years younger - women his age aren’t going to put up with this BS, and neither should you. He ruined your time on purpose because he’s controlling. Get out now, it’s only getting worse from here now that he’s seen some success.

What is wrong with people who get their jollies off threatening children?

The drinking and four wheeling is horrifying to me. That’s how people die or get serious, life altering injuries. What is wrong with these people?

All of it is still TBD. Someone on this board posted a link to the meeting about it last week. All ideas currently have an expeditionary learning component included.

Their biggest issue, as I can see it from what is shown, is that she wants to settle down soon and she thinks he parties too much. His DJing is certainly not going to move him in that direction. It’s more time out, late at night partying, while she’s at home wondering if he’s cheating again. On top of the Loverboy issues and his lack of support for her having anything for herself.

I feel like she’s currently fallen under the “sunk cost” fallacy. She’s already invested this much time into making it work. If she wants kids and a suburban home, she’d have to start all over. So does she hang in there, trying to make him change, or cut ties and start over? Tough spot to be in.

Back in 2022, at a meeting, she said there was “white flight” to PHS due to behavior problems and lack of accountability at Deering that made students feel unsafe several years before, which is why there were gaps in enrollment. Since then, administration and lots of other changes have occurred. But the context was about how Deering was SO much more diverse and how it was unbalanced between the schools. The percentages she was discussing at that point calculated out to a 6 student difference between the two schools - hardly white flight, with both of these schools being among the most diverse in the state.

It was needlessly polarizing and pedantic, but that is kind of her MO.

Oh I agree with you completely on the last minute Figdor addition. My impression is she will do whatever it takes to do away with PHS completely, based on her comments and actions over the past few years (remember her “white flight” comment?).

Really I’m most upset with the previous admins’ lack of focus on maintaining these gorgeous historic buildings we have. If maintenance had been done over time, we wouldn’t be here. And I’ll assert that whatever is the final outcome, Portland High School needs to continue on as the second oldest continuously operating school in the nation (second to Boston Latin). It would be an absolute shame to let a few people destroy that legacy. I know the school board likes to treat those of us who have history in this city as dumb townies, but that legacy goes far beyond their few years in the spotlight on the board.

The food is great there, and they have good cocktails and mocktails.
