The Solomon Quest Element comes in decent colours and is a nice lightweight waterproof hiking boot.
Do both if you have time—and you can also add on Plain of the Six Glaciers. I haven’t done Devil’s Thumb yet—need to add it to the list. If you only have time for one, the views from Big Beehive are amazing!
Ah, so nice to see that dog owners are as inconsiderate or “forgetful” in Whistler as they are in our own neighbourhood in Toronto. Somehow I would have expected that there would be more concern about keeping the environment pristine at Whistler but I guess human nature is the same everywhere.
Wow! What a story. Thanks so much for resharing!
I think the rest of us can always learn valuable lessons from these stories!
Met a guy on the Gondy who pulled out a baggy with a milky substance in it. He tore a hole in one corner and squeezed the liquid stuff into his mouth—yoghurt or, as he called it, “goghurt”. He swore it was the best ever.
And the mogelly (if that’s a word) section at the very end of the run before highway 86 is a mess of ice and exposed rocks 😢
Also the movie was shit
Sorry. grace is shit compared with Ilsa
And he doesn’t seem to be adding any new elements to his game to mix it up against multi-dimensional players like Alcaraz
I thought the entire glacier is still closed because there’s not enough snow to open it yet?
There is also a bridge over a creek on the Blackcomb Glacier ski out. But I don’t think you can get there rn because Blackcomb Glacier is not yet open
I think you will see your building on this link https://mapcarta.com/W159090745/Map
Also Red Door Bistro, in Creekside as well, and Creekbread pizza for the trifecta.
There’s a short hike to the site of an old train wreck that is doable and very cool — a friend of mine just did it recently while we were skiing. The starting point is just south of Creekside. You get to the parking lot before the trailhead by turning in at Cheakamus Crossing. You can search for it on All Trails. There are two other trails near that location that follow along the Cheakamus River: Riverside and Farside. All of them may be muddy and a bit slippery if it’s been raining, so hiking footwear would be a good idea and maybe hiking poles too. There are some great restos in Creekside also if you can get reservations: Red Door Bistro and Rimrock. They are both in the high end of the price spectrum though. I also love Bar Oso but the location has been under renovation all winter so check first to see if it’s opened. The Dublinh Gate Pub is a fun spot and there is music there pretty much every afternoon at apres time and again in the evenings. They also have a heated patio overlooking the Whistler and Excalibur gondolas. Another casual place with a nice patio in the Upper Village is RMH at Le Chamois—their cauliflower pizza is delish. If you’re in Creekside, you can also check out the Cure Lounge at Nita Lake Lodge. Their patio overlooks Nita Lake—so lovely views. And the Valley Trail is right there so you can go for a walk around it as well.
I’m pretty sure you can carry on from one to another without backtracking too much. To be sure, I would suggest searching it out in All Trails though
Little beehive or big beehive
