It’s actually another way for the French to surrender

Quit worrying about ratings. If you’re not doing this for college, you shouldn’t focus on what rating you have. If you want a higher rating, don’t focus on ratings.

You need to ask yourself first if you enjoy fencing. If the answer is yes, great. Do you want to improve for the sake of improving? Then forget about ratings. Figure out what you’re doing wrong in competitions. Take video, speak with your coach, and don’t rush these things

If you focus solely on ratings, you will stagnate or get worse. I can speak from experience

I look forward to being able to score with just my feet. Gonna start kicking

The only time I’ve seen that happen is if someone gets injured. If it’s not obvious though you should at least say something

Didn’t you hear? Everyone on Reddit is a doctor

Broke 4 separate personal bests in 2 daysThumb Draw

I’m on cloud 9 so I felt like sharing

Yesterday I broke two pb’s on multicolored. The first was a new highest scoring individual end at 25 points, the old record was 24. Then I got a new highest overall score with a 195, the old record was 190

Today I broke my blueface pb with a 189, with the old one being 187. Then I got a new fastest time with speed shooting, shooting 4 arrows in 7.6 seconds. My old fastest time was 8.12 seconds

Scoring rounds were at 20 yards, and were done with a new 40# Tatar bow. The speed shooting was done with a 30# Ming

S/O to u/Entropy for form advice that helped sharpen up my scoring rounds

Other people have already explained it well, but I want to address the time issue you said about there being less than a second. This call wasn’t made with the time in mind, almost no sabre calls are. It was made with the tempo between the two fencers in mind. Pointing out again this is a high level call, if you watch it again especially in slow motion, you should see a beat (in tempo, not blade action) where neither fencer is significantly moving. Sure Eli doesn’t go back, but he doesn’t go forward either. There’s enough of a pause in the tempo of what would’ve been the attacking fencer that it basically resets, and then Elissy jumps the gun in that vacuum

Your best bet is to use that money to buy lessons with a coach first

If he’s hitting arrows already in the bale, either move it back or switch to multi targets

Unfortunately this is normal. It’s one reason I look at third party retailers in my country (aside from Amazon)

Yeah. In my experience the best case is you’ll get it at the end of the estimated time. If it’s from Alibow or even AF, it’ll take its sweet time getting there. It’s quality, it takes time, but I’ve never been scammed or disappointed with the product when I eventually get it

In terms of accuracy and precision. Instinctive styles dominate if you ever try speed shooting

That kind of assumption (from people don’t shoot instinctive) has led to some people not even wanting to use that term. A pretty good replacement is “trial-and-error” archery. I’ve even been asked what my lessons are even about since it’s considered instinctive. I usually say something like “I’m not teaching you instincts, I’m helping you hone yours”. But yeah, the term instinctive is a little misleading

That first joke was very clever

I know it implies that, and it’s typically true. There’s practically a pecking order of accuracy and consistency with different styles that sees instinctive at the bottom. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible. I’ve gotten better scores than people with Olympic recurve setups but have hardly practiced with them. Just because I shoot instinctive doesn’t mean I’m buying a lottery ticket with every shot

Instinctive doesn’t mean inaccurate or inconsistent

More or less. But considering your hand isn’t mechanical and can slightly change everytime you pick up the bow or even how you tense your muscles makes it more instinctive, at least in my opinion

Ooooh, this looks perfect, thank you!

Tried looking, couldn’t find them. Can you link their website?

Unfortunately that hasn’t worked. The one that I went to first off had nothing I wanted, but regardless nothing fit right. It wasn’t too small all around or something, it just didn’t fit in certain areas. Right now I have some time in between events in my area so I thought I’d look at the internet

I’m a male and I normally lurk and never comment

But piping up because this has happened to me once as well. Just once though
