I applied for both STS and SEO positions, and passed both interviews. Now that my medical and clearance has passed, I was put on the register for the STS yesterday and received an orientation date of April the same day. I emailed the register about my SEO position and was immediately forwarded an email for the SEO register. I have not received a class date for the SEO position (which is what I want). From what I understand if I accept the STS offer that automatically takes me off the SEO register. I can decline the STS offer and hope for the SEO class date, or just take the STS position and reapply for the SEO later. Has anyone else been in the same situation? I’m worried about declining the STS offer and what it might look like.
Last I checked, trains from Athens to Thessaloniki was only partial. There is no direct train due to the flooding a while ago. It took out part of the tracks out and will need to take a bus some parts of the journey. So it’s best to just take the bus or fly.
They have a local bus and bus tours (NOT hop-on bus) that take you around Santorini. I can’t speak on Naxos, because I haven’t been there, but I would imagine they do also.
I don’t know if there was any STS in this most recent class. I haven’t seen any STS on here say they were invited.
It’s a friend of a friend. Just go Greece by wanderlust adventures. She is a greece travel agent.
I live in Greece as an expat. Tipping is not a thing here, and they only ask tips from tourist. If you go out to eat, and you’re happy with the service you can leave 1-2 euro, but by no means is it required. I actually hate that I see the American tipping culture pop up in Greece more this year.
I can tell you my timeline. I’m on both the STS and SEO register.
STS Timeline: Apply-6/2021 QEP- 9/2022 Interview-5/2022 had to cancel due to working overseas on assignment. Interview- 6/2023 (surprised they offered a 2nd) Medical clear-9/2023 Clearance clear-12/2023 Register added-2/13/2024 Class invite-2/13/2024 (Declined STS in Feb for hopes of getting selected for SEO)

Me too. I turned down my late April offer because it wasn’t the one I wanted. I’m hoping for SEO this time around.
December and January. I applied for two positions. SEO and STS
I received my invite February 13 for the April classes. So I would imagine it’s coming soon for July classes.
I applied for two programs and made the register for both. Just note if this happens for you, pick the one you want more. Once called up on the register for one career and you accept, the others will be terminated.
Started June 2023 completed January 2024
Are you done with your medical and clearance?
Yeah I know. I think I will decline the STS offer and hope for a July SEO class date. The talent specialist said she doesn’t see an SEO class date for April, so I guess I just wait and hope. Does anyone if there’s a benefit of STS vs SEO?
My score STS 5.5, SEO 5.8. STS Timeline: Apply-6/2021 QEP- 9/2022 Interview- 5/2022 had to cancel due to working overseas on assignment. Interview- 6/2023 (surprised they offered a 2nd) Medical clear-9/2023 Clearance clear-12/2023 Register added-2/13/2024 Class invite-2/13/2024

Hey thanks for the information. I was surprised to get an invitation to orientation the same day as i was put on the registry for STS. I actually scored higher on the SEO interview, so I’m hoping to get called for that. Are you an STS or SEO? I am wondering how restricted I will be if I chose the SEO position. I have lived overseas for over 10 years now and I’m not looking forward to being stuck state side. I’m learning Greek and plan to take the language test soon. My spouse speaks Greek, Russian, Armenian, and English. I was wondering if my spouse can take a language test and if that would enhance my chances of going to that country?
I had a similar dilemma. I didn’t add it because it happed more than 10 years ago. Of course they came and ask, and I replied “it happened more than 10 years, and you only asked for the last 7 years. I can tell you every detail, I don’t mind.” I proceed to explain everything, and she was okay with it. They will try to ruffle your feathers, don’t hide anything and be truthful during your interview. Only add what happened within in the SF-86 time period, they will find out the rest.
Should I include my trip to Cuba on the SF-86 even if it was over 7 years ago?
