Goddamn, you gotta be a stupid motherfucker to lose your job on your day off. - This lady's friend Smokey
Valid point, but I did call them shortsighted idiots
The student becomes the master...
When your union votes on president/stewards/etc, official union positions, vote for people you know will fight for you. Like, Sugar Ray Robinson/Alexander the Great/Delta Squad/Sun Tzu kind of fight for you. Relentless and ruthless, but intelligent and careful. Pick the true leaders amongst you, who will fight for you to be treated fairly and call out the bullshit tactics of the C suite. Get to know the people running. Put their feet to the fire with hard questions and make sure they are not blowhards just vying for power. Anyone who claims to he the alpha will screw you over in the long run. True leaders don't need to tell you they can lead, they show you. Be ready to stand with them because you know you picked someone who will stand for you.
A minority rule backed by billions of dollars to keep the rich getting richer. Bunch of short sighted idiots. Eliminating the middle class, buying property and houses, raising the cost of housing to intolerable levels, all of that will only result in the rich losing it all because the rest of us fall into destitution. We will end up indentured servants, paying the companies we work for to have a home, food, medicine, etc, and they will live high on the hog until it all falls apart and we either turn on them or each other. Unfortunately, I think it will he each other. This is all a culture war driven by the people afraid of the impending, inevitable, overdue class war.
I hope you had a blast. Went to Scamp several years ago, had an awesome time. Didn't bandana up and suffered from Scamp plague for a week afterwards, coughing up dust for days. I hope you didn't suffer my fate. Your crew looks like fun, they remind me of mine in younger years. Take care of each other and be good family. Much love right back at y'all
Edit: looking again, I see the bandana in your last pic, life saver.
Hitting both Grand Rapids shows, hope y'all who join me have a blast! Gonna give out some tyedye bandanas to random heads that can throw out a good joke or who bring me joy. Check my post history if ya want to see some of my tyedye and keep an opened eye out and be good family
Imagine the saddest you have ever been, and the most angry you have ever been, then remove the reason for both, and keep feeling it. Then double it focusing the new half on yourself. Repeat, add nauseum
Find something that has good reviews on support and comfort, wear them for at least 40 hours walking around outside before you go to the festival. Break them in or you will end up with blisters. You also need to know how your step works in conjunction with your toes. My "ring" toe tends to turn in and my middle toe steps on the bottom of it turning in blisters, so I put bandaid on my "ring" toe when I know I will be walking a lot to prevent that from happening. If you wrap any of your toes take the wrapping off at night and let them breathe to avoid causing other issues.
I never claimed I could dance, I just don't care if I can't. I've had people talk smack in the past and I always say the same thing. "If you don't like my dancing you have two options, show me how its done, or watch someone else." You do your thing, feel the music and let go. Your dancing should be about you, not other people and their opinions
Hulaween, best fest I've been too. Hands down.
He is the best. Thought we were getting a beagle mix, he's 95lbs and 0% beagle. Wouldn't trade him for anything.
I'm in the U.S, We haven't had that issue from what I know of. Keep your head on a swivel, watch for people who look shady, watch out for your group, and if you see something say something. I want to say be kind and you won't be a target, but some people just suck for the sake of it. Good luck friend.
Thanks, wish this year was gonna work, prolly next year though. Keep an eye on this sub, I'll post the ones I make and we can get ya one
Keep doing all of what you are doing. Way to be on getting the multi-pack and keeping your fest fam secure. I fest with hippies and EDM people, so there are always wooks out there waiting for someone to drop something, put their bag down for a sec, or keep a phone in a back pocket so they can take advantage. Give them no chance and you will have a better time and get clear with your gear. Best of luck, keep looking out for the newbies so they can have as good a time as you do! PLUR
This person festivals. Take notes, follow all of this advice. I will paraphrase what I feel is important and add a bit
Fuck fashion, shoes! The best, most supportive, comfortable ones you have if you buy new, wear them for a few hours, several times before you marathon a festival in them.
Absolutely protect your hearing.
Hydrate or die!
Keep your valuables safe! Have a fanny pack with your stuff, wear it in front, or something wrapped across your chest under a shirt, whatever it takes, include your phone/id/money in that safe spot. Its better to be inconvenienced by having to get your stuff out than it is to have someone steal it.
Absolutely have meet up spots and times with friends. If you are texting use landmarks to find each other. "Super tall dude with blue hat" or "pizza vendor to the back left of the stage"
Know where the bathrooms are and pay attention to when you start to feel like you have to go, it sucks doing the peepee dance for 20 minutes waiting in line worse when its the other.
Beyond all of that, have a blast! I'm wicked jealous of some of the bands you are gonna see!
About 25 years ago I had friends who vend tyedye at music festivals that invited a bunch of people over for a tyedye party/weekend and we camped on their property and they taught us all their method. The patterns have been semi-taught and trial and error from there. The lightning ones are really easy. Ball the bandana up, wrap really tight with artifical sinue, pick the color you want, saturate heavy, then pour black all over it. Let it sit for 12-24 hours, rinse out until the water is clear, unwrap the sinue, hang on the line, rinse again a shit ton, then wash/dry. Good to go.
I buy the large bandanas from Dharma Trading, and all my dyes as well. There are tons of walk through on process on YouTube. If you want my process I can dm you(its kind of long, cuz I'm detailed and methodical), but I have stuff that I made 15-20 years ago that isn't faded and I still wear.
The roach clips sound awesome. I can't smoke anymore but would not be disappointed if I ended up back at camp with one clamped on my hat or shirt or got to trade for one. Won't be there this year, but hoping to next. Keep being awesome! And happy Hula!
I dont know if the edit comes through, personally, I say read it rather than listen
I will leave you with a story, its a tale told in a book series I am reading, there are typos and its not a perfect copy, but it has helped me immensely and I hope it does the same for you.

Good luck friend
Edit: personally I would say read it rather than listen
Well, I would never say I am, but I'm trying. Life is long and hard and short and twisted and all we can do is make choices that we can sleep at night with. You never know what the next day will bring. But you can know what you bring to the next day. Find love in yourself, be confident in who you are, walk with your shoulders high, but also keep in mind that although we know we are worthy of love, we are a work in progress. Modesty and confidence are not exclusive. "Be good family" (Thats a hippie thing I learned a long time ago). Good luck in your future. I hope you can find yourself before the world changes you into something else.
Well, you can always start fresh. I am gonna donate again in late October, prolly rock a wild ass mullet for Halloween, and then give it all up and start again. Also, I am a guy, and have been through the bald, to short hair, to mid, etc phase until I feel good about it again. I dont know you, but if you do it, know you are beautiful, and be confident in yourself, you will find your beauty in every phase. My wife shaved her head a few years back, hated some of it, loved some of it, was confident throughout and people gushed about her beauty the whole time. Your hair does not make you beautiful, YOU DO! But it can be a gift to someone who doesn't have that confidence yet. My heart knows it, and I'm pretty sure yours does too. Check my history, yup, I'm a bit of a hippie, but I think that just shows where my heart is at. Did it back when I was an angry metal head too.
Not for that reason
Ok Xennials, what did you think a grinder was?
