I don't use my cruise control unless the road is bone dry. My mom was in car accident because the driver had cruise control on black ice and basically spun out. Almost ruined his truck. Plus my button is buggard, and doesn't always wannna work.

Blocking out the noise of dormmate that hated me, showed how it was easy to just block out a lot of noise.
I also would close my good ear and allow fellow kids keep talking like I can hear. Sometimes it took a while, sometimes not, but it was fun watching them keep talking when you couldn't hear a thing.
Only downside that fellow friends forgot you can't hear in a noisy crowded area, and try to call for you....

Welcome! I was basically born with my SSHL from birth (Mine is right deaf), and I knew it wasn't normal, but it was my normal, and I grew up not learning to locate sounds at all, along with a few other issues.
I did not notice this until a year or so later.
