All I can take from this is that as long as they aren’t professing to be Christian, we should be standing with them for equality and helping them as we would Jesus. If they are claiming belief, they should be spoken to by the elders about it (in private), and asked to leave only if they refuse to change. We should live life as an example and proselytize only if needed.

At the time, I would have taken both statements and left. If there wasn’t any real injury and I figured the two of you could leave each other alone, then I have no pressing reason to arrest anyone. I’d write the incident report up, list a primary aggressor if I felt I could determine one based on stories and leave it to the DA/Grand Jury.

I’m sure the officer that day did the same. Like others said, there is a vanishingly small but non-zero chance one or both of you get charged. There is a bigger but still small chance a charge is placed on probation guy to revoke his probation, but which will be adjudicated as time served or something depending on how much was left on his other sentence.

I don’t know where you are, but for anyone else in this situation, most places have resources. In Texas you can basically change your name and disappear for free. Texas will also pay for some job training. You just have to be honest with the police and use the resources laid out for you. The police are required by law to give the information on them and if you can explain to them how the other person is a threat, they can be held for up to 72 hours to give you time to get your things and disappear.

I finally got free from work to run to a parts store. They came back with left front wheel sensor frequency incorrect and an O2 sensor on the passenger side (bank 1, sensor 1).

I’ll see if I can get a meter or something on that sensor. I can at least check if it’s open.

I don’t think time is going to matter, honestly. They’re going to look at your entire life regardless of how old you are. But I’ve known people admitted to a mental hospital that later became cops. It depends on exactly why and a psychiatrist has to sign off on it. (Committed means by a judge, usually after some crime was committed. Admitted just means you were a patient).

Also, no, a principal isn’t a judge. They can say you are a danger to staff, but that has no legal bearing outside of school.

However, I promise the department is going to talk to your old principal if they can. I was personally surprised at all they learned about me. I wasn’t hiding anything, but I didn’t expect YouTube videos from years ago of me playing guitar or to hear from people I hadn’t spoken to since childhood, when I was in my late thirties. Go ahead and apply. Be honest on any history statements. Police actually don’t want perfect people, they want people that have grown and have life experiences. If the answer is a hard no, they will usually tell you why. If there’s something for you to fix and come back, they’ll tell you that too. But to really get the theory of it, you might need someone to show you on a piano. The layout of a guitar can be confusing with the overlapping notes.

Scales are a description of how the notes relate to each other in a song. If you have access to a piano start on C and play the 8 white keys above it. C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C.

You can describe it as, “whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step.” A whole step is two keys on a keyboard, for instance from C to D. A half step is only one key, F to F#.

This is the major scale. As scales are mutable, and you can start on any note following this pattern, people often use numbers to describe the notes in a scale. 1 would be the root, 2-7 are the notes of the scale, and 8 is an octave of the root. (Octave literally means interval of 8)

From there you can get that a major chord is the 1, 3, and 5 of the root scale. A minor chord is 1, flat 3, and 5. A 7th chord is 1,3,5, flat 7. And so on.

A minor scale has the 3rd of the scale flattened. For instance, C, D, Eb, F, G, A, B, C.

A “sharp” scale would just be one starting from a note with a sharp in the name. Like say A#.
