Hello everyone, this post is about my cat. In late 2022, my cat was attacked by one of our newer cats (at the time) and had a scratch under her jaw. That was no issue, but the vet told us to get one of those cones that dogs usually use, it was a plastic cone and it bothered her so she started to scratch her neck.
She opened a wound. It was small so we didn't think anything of it until it started to grow. We started to put creams on her that were given by the vet, nothing worked. I started to put some sort of neck protectors so she couldn't scratch herself, but she took them all off. I tried giving her nail protectors so she couldnt use her nails to scratch the wound, those didnt work. This wound eventually got infected. We went to the vet again and we removed a piece of her skin since it was infected. That was actually expensive. The vet closed her up, but had a few stitches left that needed healing. He gave us this body, this body didn't even cover the infected area and I had to sew on a piece.
Everything was healing fine, until she disintegrated her when body and the piece I sewed onto her. She somehow found a way to scratch her healing wound and now it's open again. I bought a cone for her, but it's made out of fabric so it wouldn't bother her and yes as you mightve guessed, she took it off. She keeps taking it off and scratching herself.
I don't know what to do. The main issue is her claws that by going into the litterbox, walking on the floor and so on gets a bunch of bacteria and that all ends up into her wound making it infected. I don't have money to pay for another surgery and I'm not paying for another one because this solved nothing.
What do I do? Does any vet out there know what I can do so this cat finally heals? Also, we reached a point where it was fully healed and was growing fur, but she scratches herself so harshly that she opened up another wound. Please. This has been going on for too long.
Give them proof of your first purchase on that account. That's what I did and they gave it back (had the same issue)
