I think you're describing what I'm talking about but that could also be a dozen other dishes. Here's a photo  of what I'm talking about. Generally served with a delicious mound of brown rice. The breading literally falls off the chicken. Absolutely delicious.

The gravy was always served on the side which I was always thankful for because I don't like most gravies (or non-tomato sauces in general, really). That's one of the things I disliked about almond chicken in Phoenix – even when I ask for no gravy, they still piled it on so thick that it ruined the dish for me.

So I don't know about New York-specific Chinese Food, but there are definitely regional differences. This was actually one of the more disappointing things when I moved to Phoenix. Apparently metro Detroit has a variation of Almond Chicken called "Almond Boneless Chicken" that is basically only found there, and is largely the primary Chinese dish locals eat. I've tried almond chicken at like 20 different places down here and not a single of them were what I would consider Almond Chicken. I gave up on Chinese Food down here ages ago and only recently found out why it's so "bad" compared to my expectations. I had no idea that Detroit's Almond Chicken was unique.

I stopped somewhere in the middle of 10th grade. So that'd be nearly 20 years ago.

It's a Taubman. The first photo is the food court which was built in the 00's after a snow storm caused a sizable chunk of the mall roof to collapse on the west side of the mall. The food court looked completely different from the rest of the mall both inside and out.

I wear a seatbelt whenever one is available. I've been in a car accident. I've felt the amount of force that belt put on me to keep me safe. If I hadn't been wearing a seatbelt, my face would have felt that force when it hit the seat in front of me. No way do I want that.

That's how it is with anything related to us at this point. Yzerman doesn't allow leaks. If something gets out, he just walks away. It's wild how tightly he keeps a lid on things.

It doesn't sound to me like that deal is hinging on us in any way. Sounds like there is an agreement to send Trouba with retention and a pick (or Kakko? Maybe? Depends on the report) for Holl and a lower pick. It's Trouba who is blocking it.

That's what Tavares is fighting the Canadian government over too, isn't it? He tried to do something similar. His initial Leafs contract featured a pretty significant up-front bonus that was paid to him when he was living and working in New York. Canada is trying to collect taxes on that bonus.

Actually, early reports of CBA negotiations (see this thread ) suggest the NHL and NHLPA are planning to do the opposite: increase it to 84 games to fix some weirdness in the schedule. But they'll reduce the preseason and start the season earlier with the aim of finishing in early June rather than mid-to-late June.

A few years ago, the paystub of an MLB player leaked. You can see the image here . The first thing to note is that players pay taxes to the locality they're playing in (so-called "Jock Tax"). The second thing is that they play games in Florida and the difference between taxes in Florida and taxes in Illinois on $56,000 earnings in both states is a whopping $2000. It really isn't that much.

Everyone likes to talk about how you don't pay any income tax in some states but they completely ignore how little state income tax you actually pay. Most income tax is federal and you're paying that in every state regardless of their own tax laws.

So I haven't experienced much culture shock, but I do have some geography shock that I experience regularly still to this day.

I grew up in southeast Michigan. For context, Michigan is flat. It slowly rises to the middle of the state where its highest point is but you won't see many hills and no mountains. The area I grew up in likely didn't have a hill taller than 20 feet for 50 miles in any direction.

I moved to Phoenix 12 years ago. Phoenix is situated in the Valley of the Sun. It has proper mountains in every single direction. You can pick basically any point in the city and except for buildings or tree blocking the view, you should be able to see 360o of mountain. Once I got situated here and actually took a breath and looked around, I actually cried. It's so beautiful. It's so interesting. Everywhere you look has some stunning natural feature. To this day, I will pull off to the side of the road and just gawk at the mountains.

And don't even get me started about the Grand Canyon or the mountain in Flagstaff during winter. I legitimately didn't think landscape could be so beautiful.

He's from Michigan and it's required by law that every Michigander has to play at least 1 season with the Wings. It's punishable by death if you don't.

The only times we use our middle names is when our parents are upset with us and on government forms. Occasionally someone will go by their middle name instead of their first name, but that's not something you encounter often. Using your middle name outside of those things is quite rare.

Out of curiosity, how good are these tools? We've always recommended our clients hire a native translator from the area being targeted because you never know when something innocuous like the number 4 looks like something bad or unlucky in another culture. Is this just a Google Translate alternative or does it avoid these concerns?

Wasn't the rumor 4-5 years at $5-6M AAV? It was something just ridiculous for him. I understand why we rejected that, why he went to UFA hoping to get that, and why he signed for much less after we moved on. He seems to have overvalued himself and we couldn't wait for him to figure that out.

Yeah, it's really disappointing. Remember how much crap OEL got for just gliding into the zone while Tkachuk hustled to make that empty net save only for McDavid to immediately put it in? That's Mantha for nearly the entire game. Just aimlessly gliding through the neutral zone, hoping the puck ends up on his stick, doing absolutely nothing to contribute to the play until it does. He doesn't even go full speed on breakaways. There's no hustle. There's no interest in the game. There is no desire to win. So damn frustrating.

Calgary fans will like this deal today.

Calgary fans will not like this deal in December. Few players have had his level of talent and his absolute lack of care in actually playing hockey.

It isn't just NFL Sunday they're competing with that time of year. Monday Night Football is huge, Thursday Night Football is growing, and college football owns Saturday. And in many parts of the country, Friday night is high school football night.

That's tough to compete with and schedule around. It hurts TV ratings which in turn hurts the next TV deal which is a huge source of revenue.

Having as little of the season overlap the NFL regular season is necessary imo.

Deal. No take backs.

That would unironically be awesome. Holy crap have we sucked.

Are you sure? It looks like him... today. In 1996, he had a full head of hair and a beard. Jeff Ross was also only 30 when this was filmed and this guy looks much older. The Ross you mentioned has his own IMDb page with a few special effects credits in the 90s; the comedian Jeff Ross has no special effects experience as far as I'm aware. This post is also the only search result I'm finding claiming he is in this movie.

I asked the Burger King near my office why they put a similar sign up. They apparently kept having to call the police because homeless people were spending the entire day laying in the booths in the A/C. The sign doesn't change anything because this was really always their expectation, but it seems to have deterred those people from hanging out all the time.
