Lol, my great grandpa used horse manure as tomato fertilizer and my mom says they were the best ever.

That’s interesting! I don’t have these issues and I find them large and clunky to hold, I assumed it’d be worse for others.

Glad to hear this update! Yes, the paper trail is deff important. If your friend can document this initial visit so you have something, plus the later checkup, definitely do that. Also keep receipts for any extra food, toys, etc that you buy for the kitten.

Yes that’s exactly what my comment recommended lol. I was responding to someone who recommended emphasizing that the cat came to them at their door. If the neighbor can establish ownership it doesn’t matter how or where the cat was found.

Pets are considered property by law in most places, the kitten coming to their house doesn’t really matter to a judge if the owner is able to prove ownership through papers, vet records, a microchip, etc. Otherwise that would mean any pet that escapes is fair game to anyone who finds it lol. “He came to my door, mine now!” isn’t really how it works if the owners can prove it’s theirs.

If the neighbor can’t claim any evidence of ownership then my point stands that OP should collect and save all vet records, receipts, vaccination records, spay receipts, and get her microchipped in their name.

Just something to try in the meantime while you sort it out with the vet - you could try pumpkin purée. Just 100% purée from a can (no spices etc) works fine. Tikicat makes pouches too but obviously much more expensive than just the can from the grocery store. I’ve also seen 100% freeze dried pumpkin treats. It’s high in soluble fiber so it’s often given to constipated cats, but it can also help the opposite issue too by the fiber absorbing excess water in their gut. Couldn’t hurt to try (could mix with wet food if she doesn’t like it plain) and may give some temporary relief!

Let’s be real here - I like mussels but they and clams are both far more like a bag of sea snot than sea “meat” lol

I mean he doesn’t sound like the type to get the cat microchipped but I would take the kitten to the vet, say you just “found” it in poor condition at your door (no mention of the neighbor) and have them do a checkup and scan for a chip just to make sure. The chip would establish ownership with your neighbor. If there’s no chip and you intend on keeping the cat, definitely retain your vet and vaccine records, receipts, etc and have her chipped under your name ASAP to establish a record of ownership.

Also just weigh how much drama you’re willing to endure from your neighbor if he sees her in the window and demands her back. All the more important reason to establish ownership through chipping and vet records. “Oh we didn’t realize she was yours; she wandered up skinny and with burnt paws so we thought she was a stray. We’ve been caring for her, we’ve taken her to the vet, had her spayed, and she’s microchipped under our name now.”

Edit to add: Pets are legally considered property in most places. This is why it’s important to maintain a record of ownership with receipts and records. If it went as far as court (doubtful) and the neighbor has shaky-to-no evidence that the kitten is his, but OP has tons, it’ll work in OP’s favor.

Edit since this is the top comment, OP’s update is here.

I recommended the The Ordinary NMF+HA too, it’s the best, super lightweight and dries down in like 30 seconds. No gross residue or greasy feeling. They also make a smaller travel size which is what OP is looking for!

I’ve tried this and I think it’d be way too thick for what OP is looking for, as a librarian who can’t leave smudges on book covers and pages lol. For me I’d describe this as more of a heavier lotion/balm I’d wear at night over cuticle oil, not a lightweight lotion. Just my two cents for anyone reading!

Mine too lol well you didn’t specify good smelling…

It wasn’t full of tarantulas, they were normal spiders - this absolute nut job went to the store specifically to buy a tarantula to throw. Poor thing (the spider).

I LOVE The Ordinary’s “Natural Moisturizing Factors with HA” for my hands. Didn’t love it for my face so it was relegated to a hand lotion. It’s unscented, lightweight, and dries down super fast so I can get right back to typing or using my phone without any greasy transfer. Not sticky, no gross residue. And they make 2 sizes, a larger one and a smaller travel one for your bag!

I’ve tried the Gold Bond, L'occitane, and other popular reccs you’re probably going to get here but TO wins out for me. I’m very sensitive to lotions that are too thick or greasy/silicone feeling, makes me feel gross, and I don’t feel that way with the TO at all. I also hate perfumey scented lotions on my hands and this has zero smell to it.

Edit: you could also try 100% lanolin. Lansinoh makes minis in lip balm tubes (they’re sold as nipple balm for breastfeeding lol). Makes a great lip and cuticle moisturizer. I spread maybe half a pea sized amount over my cuticles and rub in - it’s very thick at first like a balm, it feels greasy, you’re gonna feel like you’ve made a mistake. Then after a few more seconds it magically absorbs. I was so surprised it’s absorbent enough for me to use during the day. Like jojoba oil, it’s apparently chemically similar to the structure of our skin’s own oil so that’s probably why it absorbs so nicely.

FYI the brushes that Glisten and Glow sells are basically the same thing but way cheaper! They fit all my Cirque bottles so would probably fit these too.

Lots of people like it, I actually did a comparison of Gel Setter and Gel Couture in another post here.  It doesn’t shrink but it’s pretty thin, doesn’t dry super hard for me, and gets goopy/stringy in the bottle pretty quickly.

I way prefer the Gel Couture but…it does shrink a bit!

That’s so odd, never had that happen before!

I’ve tried quite a few that don’t shrink, including Essie Gel Setter, Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy, and INM Looks Wet. None of those are super thick or gel-like though and I find they don’t dry super hard, so my current fave is Essie Gel Couture. It’s nice and plush and dries super hard. It does shrink though - but not as bad as the Seche Vite. I’m finding it may shrink more over certain polishes than others too.

Heard good things about Monarch HD and Cuticula but haven’t tried.  I’ve heard mixed reviews of Glisten & Glow (it does have toulene), some people say it never shrinks and others say it does.

It’s cuz they used to be gumballs but replaced them with lame chocolate chips :(

I don’t think anyone actually liked the gumball eyes, because you’re right they were always super hard and flavorless. I think the charm was just that it had gumball eyes. Like the excitement of 2 treats in one - ice cream and then you get gum at the end too?!

And they always looked goofy because they weren’t always placed right, adding to the hilarity.

The chocolate chips, while objectively better and better-looking are just…sad lol.

I don’t think it’s unpopular in the sense that many people do use it. It’s thick like gel and super shiny!

I think it’s just fallen out of favor because it shrinks a ton for a lot of people, gets thick and stringy before you’re even halfway through the bottle, and yellows on certain people/colors. I think the pros just aren’t worth the cons when there are “better” options these days with the same pros and fewer cons, some of which are 5+ free too (SV has toluene if I’m not mistaken).

If it works for you it works!

Lol amazing. I feel you might have underestimated kids’ love of all things sugar-filled regardless of whether they’re objectively “good” or not tho.

Some suicide purists say you’re supposed to skip the uncarbonated ones.
