He's at his foster family's as we speak, through Our Farm rescue/sanctuary! I definitely understand what you're saying. My old dogs were German Shepherds, the absolute most devoted dogs ever. It's horrible that that's not reciprocated.

Thank you for that wonderful offer! He's actually found a place and a foster already, which is just amazing!

I don't live in Ohio, so I don't know about out there but that is absolutely not the case anywhere I've lived. Population-based euthanasia is absolutely a thing, behavior-based euthanasia can occur at no kills and it does not have to come after a long while of trying anywhere. Kill shelters that get a lot of dogs in rarely have the time to breathe let alone give a dog a solid evaluation and attempt at rehabilitation before killing them. But, all policy discussion aside, I would not want to send a German Shepherd to a shelter where that was on the table while they're so popular/overrepresented in shelters and neither does the person who actually rescued the dog.

It's the hardest thing not being able to take them all! Thanks for the info!

Thank you so much! I NEVER would have found that one on my own and will contact them for sure.

Seeking shelter recommendations for a lost German Shepherd

A friend of mine found a German Shepherd wandering the streets, and his family does not seem to want him back. She has him living with her tonight, but her landlord doesn't allow dogs. I'm trying to help her find a rescue for him, and wondered if anyone here might have suggestions. Currently all the ones she's found are full. What we do know is that he is the sweetest thing and wants nothing more than to cuddle her.

Edit: In Dayton

Edit: He's got a place, and is with a foster family as we speak. Thank you!

Does anyone know of a no kill shelter/rescue which has room for a German Shepherd?

Thank you so much for your help. I just wanted to update you that she has a forever home!

Hello! She seems to have found a furever home. If you want to be notified if anything changes with that, just contact the rescue and ask them to keep you updated. Thanks so much for your interest in adopting her. I hope you find one soon!

Hello! Thank you so much for your help, she has found a forever home and is safe. Phew!

Hello! Nextdoor was a great lead and it sent a couple of fosters her way. Thank you so much. She has found a furever home!

It does not, and they would, but I think she just found a forever home a couple hours ago!

Please apply! They haven't been able to finalize anything yet, and if you could foster immediately and potentially adopt, that would be amazing. Here is the application. Thank you!

Yes, but at 19 months to already need medication and potentially a surgery is a pretty big investment of time/energy/stress for many people, even though the rescue is willing to do a fundraiser for a surgery.

OMG! The person coordinating the adoptions/fosters for this particular dog would be able to drive the dog up to you in Seattle. If you want her, she's basically yours. I am going to PM you her phone number.

Update: Sent.
