I'm not sure. I tell people I have lived here for 25 years and they seem to accept me. Then they find out I'm from CA and they get all mad again.

No I'm not sure.

Not sure, I don't know where you are camping in Lyell Canyon. But if you get as close as you can to the 4 mile marker, I don't think it will be over 15 miles.

My tentative plan is to camp just before Donahue. The next day summit the make my way to cathedral Lakes. That makes for a 19 mile day but most of that is flat. I am not sure if that helps or not

Cathedral Lakes is a good option. That's my plan. From what I can tell, the hike though Lyell Canyon is flat so it should be pretty easy to get the miles in.

This reminds me, one time at the animal shelter, there was a massive lifted truck with huge tires in the parking lot. I swear he needed a climbing rope and harness to get into the cab.

Parked next to this giant monstrosity was a small older Honda car. When the truck tried to back out, they drove over the trunk of the small Sedan, crushing the rear passenger side. He said he didn't see it. 🙃

Yay! Good luck to you to!

You can camp pretty much anywhere in the National Forests and BLM land. There are a few restrictions, of course, like Aravaipa Canyon or The Wave as examples.

You can drive up to the Rim, go down a Forest service road and camp. It really is that easy. National Parks are different, and you will need a permit to camp overnight, but I believe the wilderness permits are free at Petrified Forest.

If you're interested in good boondocking camping spots, check out the free app iOverlander. I have found many awesome free camping spots all over the state. This year, I have already camped near Ajo, in the Chiricahuas, Prescott National Forest, and an epic spot right on the edge of the Rim using locations from that app.

The abundance of public lands. It great to know I can drive a few hours, park my truck in the middle of the woods and camp without having to get a permit, pay for a spot or deal with other people. It's wonderful.

Ha ha yeah I always go the speed limit. If they want me to go faster they can pay my speeding ticket. Anyway, the 202 I-10 interchange is right there. I have to be in that lane to get to on the I-10.

Wow OP. You're having a hell of a time with it. It sounds like he was the one cheating and you being accused if it was enough to allow him to break it off. Do not let him talk himself back into your and your sons life. Continue with the divorce and collect the child support. Eff him. What a loser leaving you outside. That alone would be enough for me.

Improv BoomerBoomer Story

Yesterday I visited my cities local "comicon" and there is a popular improv group that has shows once a day for the entire weekend.

Well, I had 2 seats empty next to me so she asked to sit next to me and have a seat for her friend. Go for it! Let's nerd out! Well, while the troupe was getting ready, taking suggestions from the crowd they had loud music playing. It stopped just before the start of the program and my new friend says "thank God, that music is terrible!"

Me:.... k....

Then as the show starts she yells "louder!"

Me:..... K....

About 5 minutes later her phone starts ringing with some musical tune. She ignores it. I approve. Then it rings again. And again. This time she says "whoever keeps playing music over here, you need to stop."

Me: "It's you" then laugh.

She puts her phone and shuts up. Until her friend comes. Not once did they laugh, talked during the show and got up and left before the show was over.

I was like holy crap they're real! In the wild!

I saw you guys! I was the solo hiker headed back to General Springs. Wearing white and dancing to 80s pop on my headphones.

I did clockwise. If you look at the far right side of the washed out road, against the canyon wall, where the ditch would be if the road was still there, there is a steep path down to the bottom. Easy to miss if you haven't been there before.

Reading the updates from the PCTers on Farout, they are crossing but they also admit it was stupid to do so right now. One person crossed it was hip high, another posted they crossed in a 5 person chain. Not sure what the water will look like when you get there. No one is mentioning the route you are looking at. I expect it is not doable.

Lol yeah. I keep it under lock and key 😂. This trip was one of two shakedown hikes I am doing for the JMT this summer. Next month headed to the white mountains.

I went on a Thursday and ended on Saturday. Hardly no one was hiking on Thursday, but there were two large groups followed by a few couples hiking on Friday and Saturday. If you want to be around others, go on a weekend. If not, go mid week. Tons of water right now and the weather was perfect.

Shout out to my tattoo artist Jake Bates! Epic nerdy work. Very skilled. Check him out at Love Hate tattoo McDowell and Central in PHX.

Hello, im going NOBO with a start date of July 7th. I anticipate being near to the bridge around mid-July. I'm reading the reports on Farout from the PCTers, and some are crossing already in early to mid-May. But they are also saying they made a dumb decision doing it, lol. At least the are self aware I suppose.

Thank you for the info. I am still holding into hope I can see the Evolution Valley this go around, but if not, I will just have to come back next year 🙂
