Seriously, Apple? Aren't you guys supposed to be like the UI messiahs, that justify the ridiculous price tags because you painstakingly ensure that every part of the user experience is idiot-proof and delightful to use?

You didn't think that a UI mode that's literally called MISSION CONTROL would benefit from you being able to, you know, close windows?

I've used Macbooks at work for years now and mostly love them (long battery life, Unix tools out of the box, no manufacturer-installed adware/crapware, etc), but seriously, the UI/UX choices of macOS are really puzzling sometimes.

I suspect it wouldn't be all too different from what we have today. Lua might have less warts than pre-ES5 JavaScript, but even the cleanest no-nonsense scripting language would never fully satisfy the needs of the giant, complex web apps of today. People would still spend a significant amount of their time/energy coming up with language extensions and a thousand-and-one libraries/frameworks to "fix" the language.

If web browsers had ditched JavaScript for Lua, we'd just swap TypeScript for Tua, Babel.js for Babel.lua, etc etc.

The web is basically the wild west. We have everyone from Joe Shmoe who just needs to add an alert() and PUT request behind a button press, to FAANG companies basically reinventing desktop apps like word processors in the browser. Someone somewhere would still want to write their entire frontend in Java, or C#, or Rust, or what-have-you. So WASM and transpilers like GWT would probably still exist in the Lua-for-Web timeline.

Isn't Lua also the scripting language behind user-made games in Roblox? I don't know much about the game, but I think it's pretty awesome that it incentivises kids to learn to code.

No more than we can trust the NSA not to backdoor the cool toys that Google/Microsoft release. Ultimately though, if a project is open source, there are going to be eyeballs on it. And you have the option to build it yourself, if need be. 

Bingo. A decently specced gamign laptop is basically just a workstation PC with a more affordable price tag and an uglier shell. A business laptop/"true" workstation PC is usually not worth it unless you have really deep pockets, you're buying secondhand, someone else is footing the bill (e.g: your employer).

 I'm going to go against the grain and say "yes". Choosing a powerful CPU will help, even for "mundane" things like installing NPM packages, building apps in Android Studio, etc. 

Do you need a H series processor? No. Will it help, and will you be able to feel the difference? Yes.    

   For real. The only reason OP thinks "old laptops" are "better" is because the only old laptops that people still bother to sell these days are the good ones.      

The gaming/business/workstation laptops of today will be the "golden age old laptops" of 6 years from now. I can already see it happening in real time. Plenty of people praising the Thinkpad T480 as the second coming of Jesus, when it was a fairly unremarkable (but decent) business laptop from 2018.   But then again, tech enthusiasts have been sucking ThinkPad's peepees for decades now, so maybe that comes as no surprise.  

I'm not Indian, but I'm assuming "50k" is "50k Indian rupees". Which is, what, 600 USD? For that money, you can buy a gaming laptop.

Maybe not the top of the line models, or maybe not a model from this year. But you can get a decent one that -while not as slim as an ultrabook- isn't too much of a hassle to carry around (e.g: Lenovo Legion 5/LOQ or Asus TUF 15), and will outlive your PS5 in terms of being a viable gaming device 5-6 years down the road.

So if you have that kind of money to burn, maybe just get ... both?

If you're not gaming, pretty much any recent tablet would fit your bill. Maybe the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite? Has a stylus, which is always nice. Be sure to pick the most recent version though.  Samsung have released several tablets with that same name over the years.

Reality matters less than perception. "Neighbouring country dumping nuclear waste water into the ocean" is not going to generate many positive perceptions, regardless of how safe or unsafe their activity might be. You don't need government propaganda to ruffle some feathers with a headline like that.

Think of how many people feared the Covid vaccines would give them autism or cancer or something. Were those the result of propaganda too? Or maybe, just maybe, people who are frightened about something they don't fully understand don't always act rationally.

If there was a failed nuclear power plant in Alaska dumping waste water into the ocean, do you think there wouldn't be any Canadians protesting? No matter how many assurances of the water's safety?

I know Huawei is huge in China, but so are other domestic brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, etc etc. All of which use the Android ecosystem, and thus have access to countless apps. How does Huawei plan to play ecosystem catchup from scratch?  A game that even Microsoft (that only had to contend with relatively "young" versions of Android/iOS) failed miserably at.

I haven't touched GDScript in awhile. But last I checked, its type system just isn't all that powerful (yet). You can't even declare interfaces.

Honestly, my dream would be that GDScript has a type system that's as flexible and powerful as TypeScript. Forget the performance improvements, it'd just be so damn satisfying to use. TS solves so many of the pains that people have with static typing.

I mean, you've pretty much just spelled out exactly how sports are different from any other media. Competitive, team sports, anyway. Very, very few rock-climbing/tennis/ping-pong/archery fans are bludgeoning each other over who's their favourites.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that the majority of competitive sports fans are violent/obsessive. It's perfectly possible to have a healthy interest in sports as a fan.

I do think that competitive sports are uniquely (in comparison to movies, books, etc) capable of causing violent obsession in a minority of people, though. For reasons you have already laid out. And that the small minority that are violent/obsessive aren't any different from the degenerates who spend their life savings buying toenail clippings from their favourite online streamers.

Both of these groups are investing a large degree of their personality on people that have no idea who they are, and would be disgusted to be sitting in the same room as them. The only difference is, one of these groups know that they're being degenerate, and the other group will proudly thump their chest and tell you that this is all about "passion for the game".

I mean, there are very few folks who'll have literal riot over a movie. I'm sure it's happened before, but far less common than with sporting events. I'd understand it if you  bet half your life savings on your favourite team but they lost. Otherwise, who gives a shit?

 Right? If you aren't destitute and you don't have a disability, cooking is easy.   Cooking well might be another story. But it takes no skill to cook pasta, steam brocolli and boil a couple of eggs.

 Hell, swap pasta for rice and you can cook all 3 in a rice cooker. At the same time. With near zero supervision.
