Can’t wait for timed entry on the Kanc. 🙄

I’d rather protect currently unprotected land and add it to WMNF than put up more parking lots.

By the way I’m currently in the PNY. You would have appreciated the spray painted rocks that the rangers didn’t prevent in Rainier.

The biggest recent logging project that has been proposed will clear about 600 acres out of 800,000. And let’s not forget that when NPS builds roads, parking lots, buildings, etc. they clear trees - lots of them. There’s an environmental impact to making sure that people don’t have to work too hard to harass wildlife and carve their initials into trees.

I’m about 1:15 from the Whites, and while I adore them, I wonder what this would acccomplish. It’s already more visited than almost all of the parks, is bigger than the size OP listed, and already has protections.

Edit: and you can hunt and bring your dog. I can tell you people of NH would hate the change, despite the fact that they love WMNF.

Mixed bag.

The more money I make, the less actual work I do.

It’s nice developing people who are open to it

It’s hard watching people who are not as good at my IC job as I was and don’t care.

It’s hard reporting to people who are not as smart as they think they are, and seeing the ethical issues that are more visible as you go up the ladder.

It’s like you had a pile of shit, and someone took another shit on top of it

We’ve been here the last couple of days. We are not hardcore hikers by any means but we’ll drive, hike an easy trail, drive, hike an easy trail, etc.

We spent yesterday in Paradise, where just about all trails are snow covered. Like, 2-4’. We did the two easiest trails there and they were beautiful but slippery. Fun for us, but not for everyone there. We also visited Longmire, where there was no snow. There’s a beautiful easy trail across from the visitors center. All in we hiked about 8 miles. You need a timed entry pass for Paradise unless you go before 7 or after 3.

On the way in we stopped in several spots for pics. At Lake Louise we did the short trail to the water, and just before we got to the parking lot I encountered a lady sitting in the snow with her pants down. I don’t know if they came off when she fell or if she was trying to pee, but she was stuck. I turned my back and sent my wife over to help.

Sunrise is still closed until at 7/4 or 7/8 depending on which NPS source you read. We went to the Ohanapecosh VC and hiked the Silver Falls Loop, which we all loved. We also hiked to a waterfall in the Gifford Pinchot NF, off of Rt 12.

After that we did the white pass scenic loop, which was very pretty but foggy/rainy at the end

I took a very similar pic yesterday- beautiful day. We’ve been here since Friday and heading out tomorrow.

When one of their friends posts a pic of their teenage son and they’re all commenting on his appearance

Oh, here’s where you play dumb.

Or maybe you’re not playing.

So… after an intro about eating the rich, what exactly did you mean by “you’re lucky all they did was chase after you?”

Well, I went to two places in a major US tourist city yesterday. We’re staying on the outskirts in a residential neighborhood. First was a bakery where the worker was a little bitchy (we had been there the day prior and same girl came in late with an attitude). We ordered at the counter, carried our own food, separately carried our own drinks, and bussed our own table. We basically work there at this point and it cost $70 for 3 people including tip.

Second place - you self-serve with a QR code and pay by phone, waitress did the rest.

I’m not bitching about the experience, but if I’m doing the work and paying for a $20 min wage, a 20% tip default (calculated on a figure that includes the tax) seems excessive.

I used to think this, but it’s getting ridiculous.im currently in a city where servers make $20, so food prices are ridiculous. And then the default tip is 20-22%. This is on top of the wage increase I’m already paying for and on top of tax. So the server is now somehow entitled to both a higher wage and 20% of gross receipts (owner makes 5-10%), and makes a profit off taxes,

And to top it off, probably due to the high wages, in most places I’ve been here they’ve converted to at least partially self-serve. You’re inputting the order on your phone, paying on your phone, in some cases getting your own food and bussing your own table.

“Fucked over.”

The server knows that part of the deal is that some people don’t tip.

The idea that they’re justified in assaulting someone because they don’t get a full 20% of gross receipts (the owner makes around 5-8% for reference) is idiotic.

I do that but it’s free. We call it “going fishing.”

How do you broach the subject of them paying for it?

Look at you, making up details as if they matter. You might have a relevant point if I hadn’t agreed in my first post that the boomer was a dick.

I’m not “so hung up.” But it’s clear that OP sucks at her job and her manager probably does too.

But we know it was personal, because she said it was. Customers get aggravated when they’re ignored, and there was no business reason for the customer to get ignored. And by her own account, this is a chronic issue. She’s doing a disservice to the company who pays her check and the customers who pay their bills. She has 16 hours a day and two weekend days to arrange her personal shit.

I get that there’s downtime at work and some people can handle distractions but OP clearly can’t.

The fact that you didn’t see that the initial problem was a shitty customer experience is probably why you’re not a manager.

Boomer was a dick, but a customer shouldn’t have to ask you OP acknowledge them because she’s busy on personal matters.

No, but I once found a guy’s fancy glass pipe on the bench at hole 3.
