[ALL] Which Zelda Game is the Scariest to be Link in?

Let’s say you wake up one morning and congrats, you are Link! Which iteration of Hyrule would you find yourself the most afraid of exploring?

For me, I would say being Link in Ocarina of Time would be the scariest for me personally. You’re telling me as a KID I have to fight a giant spider inside of a talking tree, enter the insides of a giant fish to save a fish girl, go down a well and come face to face with a creepy flesh meat sack with super long arms that grow out of the ground, and then as an adult I’ve gotta worry about all kinds of crazy stuff like hands falling from the ceiling preparing to take me to the backrooms.

It already sounds horrifying, but when you add in the fact that Majora’s Mask is the same Link things just get even worse😭

It loses its spook factor as you get used to it but nothing can prepare you for stumbling across a and seeing coming at you from LITERALLY out of nowhere.

Yea, imagine if instead the rematch just wandered the underground instead. Thatd honestly be really cool and terrifying at the same time. Atleast make traversing the underground a bit more trnsr.

I will add that once you have added Evermeans to your Hyrule Compendium, you can use your scope and it will tell you which trees are Evermeans. Few things are scarier than walking into a depths wood, pulling out your scope and find yourself surrounded by them.

From then on, every single time I found one it was bomb arrow time.

For some reason guardians scare me WAY more. Like yeah the first gloom scared me but then I got over it. Guardians tho... I camt even listen to the music

this is literally one of my phobias, it's not big open spaces its big spaces that are inclosed but still huge. they just give me this horrible pit in my stomach.

I think the thing that puts Twilight Princess further down the list is that there’s really not much of an actual threat by the time Link heads for the Arbiter’s Grounds. There are plenty of momentarily scary moments later (e.g., fighting a giant undead Skeleton, seeing a Yeti go crazy over a mirror, the obligatory giant spider), but Hyrule has already been saved by the time Link’s quest is halfway over. The children are safe in Kakariko Village (minus Ilia, but even she’s not in any danger), Castle Town is free, the Gorons and Zoras are recovering from their losses, etc.

Sure, there’s personal shit to deal with, and someone should probably do something about that weird octahedron that’s around the castle, but there’s no actual pressure to get it done quickly. It’s one of the few games where the hero getting distracted with various side quests instead of doing the quest makes sense - after all, Zant is unlikely to be able to take over a second time, and Ganondorf seems content to just sit and wait for Link. Why not stop and smell the roses?

Termina in Majora’s Mask doesn’t give that solace. The Moon is ever-present, and while Link can liberate all four regions just as he can in most games, all that work will be undone when he has to play the Song of Time again. There’s nowhere safe he can return to, at least not permanently, and no one he has fighting alongside him.

Plus he’s like ten.

Very true indeed. I played TP when I was quite young, so its story isn’t very fresh in my memory. I played MM two years ago and absolutely loved it.
