Lots of towns claim to be the best, but only one can truly be the best.
Let's hear your reasoning!

I hate to say it, but I think Guernsey is the best. They let the personnel from the base put on a good show, and you can light off fireworks in town as well.
Many, many years ago, I was working at camp guernsey as a teenager. They had a full time EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) guy who would put on one hell of a show on the 4th. This guy also let me do pull some shots to blow up UXOs and such with him as a 17 year old, and directly led to me choosing that career path for myself. Haven’t been back in a while, but Guernsey has a great show. Plus like all of town becomes an open party on the 4th (or used to), which is pretty awesome.
Guernsey is the best. They have things going on all day, float the river, go to the state park, and then fireworks lit up ALL OVER TOWN. It’s a fun day.
I’d agree with this. Most of the time some of the people in town fork out a lot of money and put on some decent shows themselves
I'm pretty much only in this sub because of Guernsey and of course, this is the only thread I've actually seen it mentioned in so far 😅
Yeah, I mean I’m surprised it’s still a town. If it wasn’t for the military you don’t have much to keep anyone there
Except all the tourist who come through on HWY26. And the railroad. And the recreational activities. And the Oregon Trail ruts. And the retirees.
They closed the railroad there a few years ago and now only run it with a very small crew. All that other stuff you mention is free and the only thing they probably make money on is charging for camping at the lake if people decide to stay there instead of Glendo or Greyrocks
Sorry the PTI crews. And the oh shit something went wrong stops.
Everyone I know there is retired and just enjoying the slooow life
