These are some pics from a pyranha “steeze” prototype they had at the green race has anybody heard any news about its release?
ReactR at least for prototyping
Terrible name... Just Reactor would be better. Rip-R evo is one of the worst names ever too.
Also, they should stop calling boats the "xxxx 2" like seriously you cant come up with a new name?
If there is one thing global colonization has showed us, it is that British people can't name things for shit.
Queen whatever Lands all over the world would like to have a word with you.
Liquid Logic Hoss and lil Joe. Jackson superhero and superstar. Do fuck off.
I do believe I will decline your request.
It looks like it’ll be really fun to paddle. I absolutely love my ripper 2L, it’s super fun with the seat all the way back. So easy to load the tail and get a great boof with it - I expect this will be very similar.
With that said, dagger’s steeze looks great, too.
The Large ReactR should be like a cross between the L Scorch and L Ripper 2. Two of my favorite boats.
Two great platforms to work from. Realistic wish - I hope they keep the width of the R2. Maybe in an alternate universe wish - I hope it has improved outfitting ;-).
I've had the Scorch and R2 in Large, and both are amazing boats, but if there's one thing I don't care for in the Scorch L it's the boof - it doesn't need a great boof because it just plows over, around or through everything, but it's nice to have. That thinner stern should help quite a bit.
Out of curiosity, around what weight are you? I'm about 190lbs and I use the R2L for just about anything and it has performed really well for me in big water, but I haven't tried it yet on steeper creeks. I have the seat in the center for now but I've been thinking about moving it back for better tail loading. I used to paddle a R2 medium and I am kinda missing that ease of tail loading even though I was a bit heavy for it.
I was hoping that the medium ReactR could fit me for scarier stuff (I don't want a full creeker) but I fear it might lack a little volume...
Similar to your weight. I haven’t really taken the R2L creeking yet, just upper yough. I expect it would perform well.
I was running mine at 210lbs. I'd push the seat as far forward as possible on anything that I felt I needed more stability for.
The Medium is the first size the ReactR is coming out in, but I've heard from a very reliable source that it is more a Medium/Large sizing.
I think I saw a video that said it should be able first quarter of 2024.
Looks awesome! Does it look like it's a medium size?
Sweet for the release and yes it did look like a medium most of the time when pyranha releases new boats they are mediums typically
Yes, sorry what I meant was does it look like a true medium? Or like a smallish or largish medium? Like look at the LL RMX, the 76 is like a S/M, 86 is like a M/L and the 96 is like a L/XL
It looked extremely similar in size to a M scorch and very similar features like wave deflectors the only real difference was the lower volume stern
Awesome
Damn it, I can’t keep buying boats at this rate. Picking up a ripper 2 soon and if the snowpack doesn’t get better, then a supernova. Looks like this new boat would be great to replace the ScorchX for shit eating grins. Buying 3 boats within 6 months gonna rile up the missus.
No matter how cool the shape, the outfitting will be garbage.
Very true but the backband mod with the webbing is a must
Nah. Being able to fit your boat the way you want without extra weight (like the dagger seat) is a privilege and an exceptional design detail I’m thankful for. All you gotta do is doctor it up to your own fit.
How do you doctor it up to weigh 5 lbs less and stop leaking?
Buy a Waka is how. Lighter and dryer
I am a die hard waka bro. :) I was rhetorically jabbing Pyrahna
My boats don’t leak too much. Check the fittings and make sure the bolts are tight. They loosen up over time. Sometimes folks put duct tape over the exterior heads (not specific to any brand of kayak), or add a little aqua seal at the washers and resecure. I’ve never felt compelled to do that - just noting what others folks have done.
To lighten the load, not sure. I think pyranha boats are on average lighter than competing brands due to simple outfitting options. Some folks have shaved extra bar off their bulkhead bar and popped some holes into the foam pillars, but you want to be very careful not to compromise structural integrity. I’ve taken a stab at it for a race boat, but I’m not messing with my creeker. I want that stability and I’ll shoulder the weight. Some folks have custom molded carbon seats, which looks awesome for racing.
If all of your bolt heads are tight and properly secured, take a look at your skirt as possible culprit or a possible micro crack above the water line.
It was a rhetorical question but I think the reason pyranha leaks more is that they have more oblong cockpits than their competitors
Thats fully true per the IR staff.
They have started fixing that as of the ripper 2 and onward.
Cool I hope so
Pyranhas cockpit sucks to try and “old school” outfit it. I love some minicell. There are hardly any shapes to glue to where youd want good contact. I can make an old Micro fit great in an hour with some foam and glue. Nowhere to hold anything on the new boats. They just suck in every way.
🤷♀️ I’m not old school outfitting. I’m just making my boat fit in modern conditions and I’m glad they aren’t heavy with unnecessary weight.
I always liked my Pyranha outfitting after some tweaks. Backband mod, hookers with some extra foam glued on, aftermarket foam under the seat etc.
The ReactR. The latest Park Jam vids show Bren Orton paddling it and there's a few shots of it from the last kayak trade show.
Got a link to the Orton video?
I heard February, but that was a couple months ago.
This is like a glitch in the matrix or something because I swear I've seen those boats for a while and that they have already been released by Pyranha??? Must have been watching Pros using them on YT or something.
Are you thinking Firecracker?
No don't think so, maybe it's the scorch X I'm thinking of?
Kinda makes me think it's pyranhas version of the jackson flow.. a sporty-er creeker with less volume. I recognize there are likely big differences, but the general idea/ niche its gonna fill seems similar to me. Wish pyranha outfitting didn't suck so bad.
Jackson flow is different, it's what we used to call a river runner, like a modern zen. This and similar boats are more creekers for advanced paddlers imo
Has Zet Ninja vibes 🥷
Another kayak model. Awesome. I'm going to buy this one for sure.
Another niche that already has plenty of competition, and yet they still won't bring back the ripper 1
I chatted to David bain about this. It's a slightly slicey creeker, sporty creeker thing. Coming in 3 sizes. Will come out when it's 'finished', so no set release date yet
Loved the 9R2 and Scorch, looking forward to adding this to the quiver when it comes out!
I had a little chat on IG with a guy from the Pyranha team who is about 85kg and has had a lot of seat time in the prototype that Bren has been paddling. He told me he felt it was perfect for his weight and that he plans for the medium ReactR to replace the ScorchX as his main creeker. I was initially afraid the medium would be a bit too small for me (I weight about the same as him) but those concerns have been put to rest.
Yes, they showed it off at the EU paddle expo, I can't recall the name but there are a few very brief clips floating around about it. I believe Pyranha is calling it the ReactR at least for prototyping, not sure that'll be its name at launch. Bow like a Scorch, stern volume between Ripper and Scorch so verticality likely won't happen but those slight pivot turns should still be killer.
Spring 2024 is the aimed launch goal from what I understand.
Dagger is also working on a similar style of boat, probably a similar launch window as well. Taking the Bow of the Code and finding the middle ground between the stern of the Code and the Rewind. I've seen a 2 versions of this boat this year. Once in the Spring and different version end of Summer.
