After i finished watching westworld i saw here that some people sayed fallout had the same vibes, even that it might be a proper ending. I've just finished watching it and didn't get that at all. Opinions?
Nolan and Joy didn’t write both. They have some involvement with Fallout mainly because Nolan directed a couple of episodes but Fallout has completely different show runners.
By “some involvement”, they were executive producers.
Executive Producer can mean no work at all in many cases.
High level storyline involvement at most
Oh well I feel dumb.
Did they write Westworld??
I think it’s safe to say that they did write Westworld, but they also had a huge team of writers to help throughout the life of the show.
I'm gonna hold out hope for a season 5 or a movie forever I think.
Yes and Nolan should withdraw from writing season 5 if it ever gets the green light
I'd wager they still drop in this sub from time to time and would be more fit to answer that question u/jonathannolan even if the activity is dead the lurk is strong.
I would maybe die on the spot if he came here and responded to anything I say. I joined Reddit because of season 1 of WW. My first post was questioning if Bernard was a and I was super wrong, but it was fun discussing!
Well, we're all just human after all.
The ghoul gives me MIB vibes, also the music was composed by Ramin Djawadi who also did Westworlds amazing score!!
That’s the first I’m hearing that, and I have no idea what they could be talking about. Besides taking place in the future they’re completely different shows.
really? I noticed a quite a few parallels.
there’s definitely a lot of parallels.
The Ghoul is very similar to The Man In Black, a gunslinging badass that is morally ambiguous, acts both evil and has rare moments where you can see he was a good man at some point.
Lucy is very similar to Young William, naive and idealistic, trying to do the right thing every time.
The world in both shows first seasons, are a blend of a period piece and futuristic tech.
Corporations are bad and capitalism gone wrong.
and we haven’t seen them yet in Season 1 but Synths are a big thing in the fallout universe and they are essentially hosts.
I definitely don’t feel like they are actually connected in any ways, but in my opinion there are some similarities.
Here’s my goofy-ass list of the connections I picked up on:
“Hello again”
“Darlin”
“Meet your maker”
“Newcomers”
“Man in Black” (Johny Cash Song)
The Ghoul introduction scene (and loading of custom bullets) does feel a little bit like when MIB attack’s Lawrence’s town.
That it feels a bit like Westworld just means the filmmakers have a signature style. However Westworld easter eggs have appeared in other media, for instance the Mariposa appears in Lisa Joy’s film Reminescence.
I think some of the music sounded similar.
They were written by the same composer!!
Same writers, same composer as well, I believe. I don't feel Fallout is season 5 of Westworld at all, but I'm a big Fallout fan so maybe for me it's a little different. I do feel the Ghoul and The Man in Black are very similar, and also played by two amazing actors. Both are two of my very favorite shows! I hope season 2 of Fallout knocks it out of the park. I'm surprised and pleased they did so good with the video game adaptation.
They use similar contraptions to make synths/hosts
Not at all!
Johnathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were hired specifically by Amazon to create television programs for the stream service. This happened in the middle of Westworld. Their first show after Westworld was The Peripheral. The second is Fallout
Definitely had nolan vibes. Had to look it up cause I felt it
Not even close.
The only show to get close to westworlds season 1 is Severance.
And if they somehow pull off season 2 without it turning to pure cheese it could even ascend higher than westworld in my opinion.
As of right now they are neck and neck comparing season 1's, but I give a slight nod to westworld still.
Watch it, it’s phenomenal.
Also play it, it’s phenomenal.
Wouldn't be the first Fallout/WestWorld comparison. I still miss the WestWorld mobile game that was apparently built on the code of the Fallout Shelter game.
I don't think they are similar but I do think the vibe is there knowing Nolan and Joy wrote both.
I noticed they used the same gas station set in both, maybe that's what the commenter meant, haha.
