I was listening to the Rocky IV soundtrack, which has Living in America and Eye of the Tiger. Are there any other albums that have two songs on them that Al parodied? Not including the polka medleys, I mean his full songs.
Bedrock Anthem parodies Give it Away Now and Under the Bridge as well, from Blood Sugar Sex Magik
The video also pokes fun at No Rain by Blind Melon
Man, I completely forgot about that. I used to have a VHS tape with that on it. I think one of the greatest hits tapes - memory unlocked.
I think Greatest Hits albums are cheating.
Plumber song was a parody of two songs in the same album. So was bedrock anthem.
Oh good point!
Aside from the mashups mentioned, I don’t think so. And Eye of the Tiger was originally in Rocky III, so that’s why it was parodied on In 3D. Living in America came out years later.
Yup, but it’s used again on the IV soundtrack.
It’s kind of bending the rules of the premise, but he did polka remixes of two songs from the album Woodstock by Portugal. The Man; Feel It Still and Living In The Moment.
The Best of Tommy James and The Shondells had two songs that Al indirectly parodied: "Mony, Mony" and "I Think We're Alone Now", as his parodies were both of their covers (and both on his album "Fat").
It could be argued that Everything You Know is Wrong is based on multiple TMBG songs from the same albums. For instance, I see nods to both "Statue Got Me High" and "Turn Around" off Apollo 18, and "We Want A Rock" and "Road Movie To Berlin" off Flood.
Good catch. You'll note as well that Rye or the Kaiser appears on In 3D (1984), while Hernia appears on Polka Party (1986). That's because Eye of the Tiger was only RE-released on the Rocky IV soundtrack in 1985. It originally dropped on the Rocky III soundtrack in 1983.
As mentioned, “The Pluming Song” parodies two Milli Vanilli songs (“Baby Don’t Forget My Number” and “Blake It On the Rain”) which were on their debut album.
Otherwise, I’m pretty sure you have to go with a compilation of some variety.
There are a number of Michael Jackson greatest hits albums (e.g. HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I that have “Beat It” and “Bad.”
It’s a bit of a stretch, but The Best of Tommy James and the Shondells has the original versions of “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Mony Mony.” Both of Al’s parodies were of cover versions (by Tiffany and Billy Idol, respectively).
