I haven't teared up in a video game before but I think i give this moment to the moment when Deimos died in God of War: Ghost of Sparta
Better that that for him to turn but....yeah
Man i played the whole episode HOPING for a miracle… yea that was a sad moment.
Shadow of the colossus the horse death and ending its only game that ever made feel sad for finishing it.
The only video game that ever got to me was Red Read Redemption 2.
A masterpiece.
I didn't, but I amlost did. First game that came to mind when I read the post.
They killed my horse 😢. I couldn’t finish it the first time through because it was so damn emotional. I had to start over before I was willing to accept John.
Him saying thank you to the horse 🥺
One of the first things I did in Act 2 was go get the White Arabian near the ice lake.
I basically only used that one horse for my 100% playthrough (more than 300 hrs) until that scene. Also, my dog had just passed away some time earlier, so yeah… that moment got me good.
"I gave you all I had Dutch...I did"
Joel's daugther's death (The last of us)
I know it's the low hanging fruit but I agree. When I first played it when it came out 10+ years ago, I was NOT prepared. My wife was watching me play and we both got teary eyed when Joel's daughter died.
Shit was mega intense.
I'm not crying, you're crying. shut up
Gears 3, Dom's sacrifice.
Gears 2, when Dom finds Maria.
Lee’s Death Telltale TWD. It’s been over a decade and I still Tear Up whenever I see it. ”You Have to Shoot me Honey” 😭
"I'll miss you"
"Me too"
Shit hits way too hard every damn time
“Blessed Are Those Who Hunger And Thirst For Righteousness.” If you know you know
Gears of War 3 Mad World
Outer Wilds ending
MGS4 when snake had the gun in his mouth first time I got tears in my eyes.
Two Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Halo ODST when they fly away in the end (idk why), BioShock 1 and 2 good endings, FF15 ending.
Ff15 be like: Walk Tall, my friends. Me: 😭
Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Just the whole grim reaper of Spirits thing hit me hard.
Oh man I started playing this I’m not ready!
Lemme set the stage.....
You and Jackie just pulled off a heist..... Arasakas men are chasing you, You frantically get into the Delamain cab with Jackie, blasting past the psychotic murder machine that was sicced on you...
You get to relative safety as the Delamain cab is enroute to a selected destination......"Stay with me Jackie..........Jackie?.....JACKIE!!"
And then later when you go to Jackie's ofrenda. Like damn choom, we were gonna go to the big leagues TOGETHER. raises a glass of The Jackie Welles
End of Persona 3. I won’t go into it since I know a lot are playing it this year, but it is truly sad. I have never cried over a video game until that moment.
Your eyes feel heavy…
The garage level of Driver. As a child, I just wanted to play the game and not take my road test at the age of 10
Some of y'all never played/finished Valiant Hearts, and it shows.
Me when I get troll teammates in pvp games.
Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.
Ugh I immediately replayed the game after finishing because I thought I could save him
I cried at Ending A on my very first playthrough of NieR Automata. And I don't mean just teared up a little, I mean... I may have been ugly crying. I'm not sure 🤣 But I probably had some bottled up emotion at the time, too. I don't cry often. There are times where I feel like I'm about to, but then I force myself not to
The showdown with Reed in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty
Lee's death in Telltales The Walking Dead
Mordin and Thane's death in Mass Effect 3
Tali's I have a home line
Oh man talion’s story.
That fcking mission in Fallout 4: Far Harbour
Which one?
Anywhere your horse dies. So Shadow of the Colossus and Ghost of Tsushima.
This might be cheating, but Spirit Fairer.
RDR2 has some emotion.
FF7R - After the plate fall when Barret was calling out for the other Avalanche members, and then Marlene.
FF16 - The ending, but I was okay until Gav shed a tear. Then I lost it watching Jill & Torgal. 😭
That side mission where Clive finds out torgal had collected their old things and had waited for him to return got to me … and then I wondered how the dog could bring all of those things up the wooden ladder haha.
Last of us series
The opening scene with Fenrir in GOW:R literally broke me that I had to pause to collect myself. Pretty much the same thing happened to me in real life and it took me years to recover
I just started the game yesterday and yeah, was actually in a really good mood until that haha. GOW always has tough scenes
The entirety of spiritfarer...if you know you know (honourable mentions:outer wilds and the ending of titanfall 2)
FFXV. The ending scene with the boys accepting Noctis fate on their last camping trip. I cried so much that I was an absolute mess. It took me 5 minutes to calm down.
I feel you, friend. To this day, my family teases me for crying over that game because I was a mess and someone walked into my room during it XD.
when i realized i couldn't properly replay outer wilds
Titanfall 2. Outer Wilds. Always.
Last level of Halo: Reach/Final Fantasy 7: Criss Core/Red Dead 1 and 2. Something about video games ending with the protagonist kicking ass before dieing is a really cool concept to me. I wish more video games had a "Nazi Zombies" wave defense as the final mission.
Being the last squad member alive and everyone screaming you suck, and going “oh my god! Bruh what are you even doing!? exasperated sigh” and the other team/enemy coming at you in all directions knowing you’re out of your element and will die to get kicked from the squad when the match is over.
The death of DOM gears of war 3
The final scene with Dom in gears of war 3
Life Is Strange , whole damn game tbh plus the soundtrack is firee
When Achilles and Patroclus got back together in Hades.
MADELINE MILLER HAS NO POWER HERE!
I have never cried to a game before playing Xenoblade 3.
Chapter 5 was a wild ride, and broke my expectations from what I thought most JRPGs would normally do.
Two things: 1. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2’s main story ending 2. Minecraft’s End Poem
Just the other night when I finished MGS3 and Snake is listening to Eva explain everything as he stands
Get me everytime
To give a different answer for once, the most recent tearing up I had was Kiryu putting on the iconic suit again at the end of Infinite Wealth.
Telling Clementine to go on without me.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. When you tell your friend goodbye and dissolve into bubbles of light.
Nukes dropping in Fo4
Sarah dying in TLoU
Vivian abandoning and then Returning to Mario in TTYD
Boss jumping in the Nuke in SR4
The party disappearing from existence and then subsequently returning in Persona 5
The ending of FFXV
The two reveals in the final ending of The forgotten city
Just to name a few
To the moon
The Outer Wilds ending is so fucking beautiful. Genuinely the best gaming experience ever.
I didn't tear up, but cried like a bitch at the end of the first 2 walking dead games.
Lee Everett's death from Telltale's TWD. Same for Kenny (if the option picked is for him to die)
Edit: Honorable mentions, RDR and A Way Out
This should be top comment I legit teared up over Lee
Titanfall 2's ending. I didn't tear up when I first saw it and I don't now but man that ending still hits like a truck
Like anything near the end of Outer Wilds. Actually the best game ever
As a child playing Mario Kart 7's rainbow and always getting so close to 1st place only to edge out at second made me want to throw my 3DS half way across the living and slit my throat
I don't tear up ever, but I guess Roland's death in Borderlands 2 would be the closest.
The end of Halo 3. Lord Hood spoke at the memorial service, the music and the speech always gets me a little teary eyed.
Im surprised no ones mentioned the Aunt May scene from the first insomniac Spiderman game
Shit still makes me cry no matter what
Such beautiful voice acting that has incredible, raw emotion in it
Titanfall 2, where BT has done the math.
The second half of "The Final Battle" ost from Elden Ring. If you've played it, you know EXACTLY what I mean.
mgsv, mi8ssion 43. thos where my men dang it
Cried at the end of GOW Ragnarok: Vahalla. That goddamn speech gets me every single time
Metal Gear Solid 2 towards the end of the game when Otacon’s sister died always made me tear up
Never actually cried from games, but the closest was the post credit scene of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
The final scene of The Last Guardian. My god.
Doms death in Gears 3.
Persona 5 Royal
I'm still getting over the death of Eli Vance.
Ghost of Tsushima
Ending of Mother 3
The unveiling of the Normandy SR2 in Mass Effect 2...not sure why, but it always makes me tear up.
I shed a tear when Elise is about to blow out the flame that becomes Iblis in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. She's got so much pressure on her constantly as a princess who can't cry or let her guard down without getting kidnapped. Sonic is like the one thing that's making things easier, and for once she wants to be selfish so she doesn't have to lose him.
Final Fantasy X 😭 and the beginning of Last of Us
"Protocol 3: protect the pilot"
Vincent or Leo’s death in A Way Out, I tear up everytime I listen to the theme.
Halo: Reach, I made a connection with every spartan, and was not happy to lose them.
The Last Guardian - Trico is just like my dog that passed away...
“It had to be me. Someone else would have got it wrong”
Mordin
Recently, a prologue of a certain gacha game.
That was the 2nd time I rewatched the prologue and I still cried.
When Tali finds her father dead in ME 2
Honestly, Borderlands 3 hit me hard because I kinda got emotionally attached to the characters in a way (not sexually). Legit, when Lilith went to fix Pandora or whatever from splitting open, I started tearing up. There was seriously a lot of unnecessary death in this game. Hell, even Troy torturing his sister by using too much power made me want to kill the bastard even more. All I gotta say is, the story of BL3 is fine but it can be better.
La batalla final en crisis core me rompió por dentro
The last ride of Arthur in RDR2.
The end of one shot
Protocol <3
Fucking last of us
I gave you all I had dutch
When I was younger:
The end of Valiant Hearts: The Great War, FFXV, Titan Fall 2, and MGS3
Now:
Death Stranding almost made me tear up (It definitely has the emotions to send you into a full sob.) The ending of that game and what's revealed in certain parts of the story just hit so hard.
The ending of "the man who erased his name" made me cry like a bitch. Very hard scene to watch after playing through the yakuza series.
Ghost of Tsushima when khan kills taka
Rdr1
mechwarrior 4 vengeance " what do you want?" "i want my family back" *boom*
Ghost of Tsushima, Kena bridge of spirits, spiderman

Mega man X, when Zero comes to your rescue
Mgs3 has been the only game in my 25 years of gaming (started at age 4) to make me shed a tear
The end of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 man, closest I've come to crying in a long time
The dead of Niko in Oneshot
Miller from metro exodus saving artyom
If asking recently? Blue archive Volume F ending. If asking years ago? Beating moonlord in terraria
The end of God of war Ragnarok. I had to pause the game for a solid 5 minutes after Kratos saw that mural of him that his wife painted, because I just was sobbing. I still get really teared up when I finish that game.
Super Paper Mario
I just got 0-12 in a ranked 1s match in rocket league
Dom talking to Maria as he gives his life to save Marcus Gears of War 3.
Protocol 3: Protect the Pilot
Just today I booted up Populous the Beginning. It's on Gamepass through EA.
Anyways... my mom played the hell out of this when I was growing up. She loved it. It just brought back so many memories... it was almost too painful to play. She would have loved how easy it is to play now. Apparently there is even some DLC? Expansion? That'd have sent her over the moon. We never knew.
I know a lot of people say their mom is awesome... I swear... she really was. I know 72... isn't young... but it was still too young for me.
Omoris final duet.
I gave you all i had, in the end. I did.... John made it, he's the only one....
Only Arthur's death in rdr2 and end of stray
Change: A homeless survival experience.
To elaborate, the player character is ended up homeless thanks to various reason like bankrupt. They have to beg, search for food in trash risking their health, maintain their happiness which is pretty hard, face any odds while make their way to escape from homelessness.
After 3 successful playthroughs, the extended ending shows the player character finally got a stable life with a job and house, but when they approached by random homeless people begging for money, they just deny and apologize, and left the scene.
The worst part? It can happened to anyone in real-life.
The moment I realise I have to switch off and go to bed

-Freaking hearing His Theme and watching our little goat boy cry in Undertale. Even today hearing His Theme brings me to tears. Asriel didn’t deserve to die. -Finding out Marowak was murdered by Team Rocket in Pokémon Red. -Anytime the Devs of a game thank the player in the credits. -Finding out that Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf were tortured. -The fucking Miltank in the Gym in Pokémon Gold with Rollout. -I cried with fear at Photoshop Flowey (Genuinely scared me.)
The dawn will come
Halo 4’s ending.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Pure, unabashed, wailing ugly crying.
Ending of Slime Rancher and reading Casey’s email. Plus hearing her song in the credits-perfect for those in long distance relationships. (1000 Lightyears Away)
The Walking Dead, season 1. Also some moments at Mass Effect (which I dont want to spoil)
blue screen of death, knowing you haven't saved for two hours....
Melania second phase
Like you, I’ve never deliberately cried in a game but Arthur Morgan’s honourable death damn near made me & John Marston’s death also nearly made me cry (now that I think about it, I might have even shed a tear for that one). & Hank killing himself in DBH is fucking so sad.
Me 10 minutes into a game after a long week of work and my roommate come into my room saying “You only play video games,”
Protocol Three: Protect the pilot
"The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day.
But you are not here to see it..."

Apex Legends. Just blink and you are already dead.
Yeah I know you are all top ranked player, I am just a RPG player with 0 reflex ok and I suck okkkkk. But the game is well made and the feeling is amazing with most weapons.
