I don’t know about you guys, but working in one career/industry for the rest of my life scares the crap out of me. I understand that 30 years ago - compensation was relative to seniority, but that doesn’t exist anymore. Career switches shouldn’t be seen as a fallback, imo you’re only improving your skills/experience.

Though I agree to an extent, there are a lot of industries that suffer from aged stagnation. You really wouldn't believe how many older colleagues I've had to tell that a prawn cocktail served in a martini glass is absolutely not worth having on a menu. Its 2024, not 1984.
You need to be REALLY unlucky to keep hitting industries that stagnate. That or bad decision making in which case you kinda deserve to be looked down upon.
Has this company ever fired anyone?
Gosh sounds like they made bad decisions when hiring people and deserve to be looked down upon or they're REALLY unlucky
Cut to you going "BuT ThAtS DiFfErEnT"
If the company fired them for other reasons that's got nothing to do with choosing a dying industry.
