I use to see his in-laws on a daily basis when this first happened. I know what I'm talking about
I feel pretty bad for Greg. He had the 'leave of absence' from WRAL, then he was fired, then he was working in the forecasting department for some energy company in Florida, then he was an Uber driver - I think in Virginia somewhere - he did those commercials for Blantons, and now it seems he's back in the Triangle doing this.
He's never stopped talking about and posting about North Carolina weather. I think this is mostly an effort to monetize the stuff he's been posting to Facebook all along.
He's a good dude in a bad place. I hope this goes well enough to offer him some stability.
It definitely seems like his whole identity was "awesome longtime local weatherman" and when that went away he really struggled. His gift is really that he had the ability to take all the science-y weather stuff and present it in a way that everyone could understand, with some nods to more advanced stuff if people were into it.
I think he really misses it and it will be interesting to see if this gets traction.

His Patreon has only been running for a month and he has 1,036 patrons, which is very good for such a short time. I've seen more famous people start Patreeon's with less initial success. Definitely has traction!
