Recently I have been going to longhorns for takeout and every time I go it’s the same woman with a stank attitude that always shoves the food in my hand and walks away from my car. When it’s other people it’s standard service. I went in to eat one time and she was my waitress and I tipped her the suggested amount and she still had a terrible attitude. I’m starting to wonder if it’s just her or if it’s because all the other to go orders I didn’t tip on.
10% but not because of the food prep that’s included in the price. Rather because someone took the time to take your order, box it up, etc and in the current American economic system that labor relies on tips. But it’s less tip dependent labor than dine in, hence 10% not 20%.
What if I order online? No one has to even pick up the phone to take my order.
Then no I would not tip on door dash pick up or similar online order pick up apps/websites
So they should get 10% for taking down my order from a phone instead of ordering it online? Even if I was quick and no alterations or anything? Didn’t ask about menu just had my set list and told it to them?
Unless you personally research that they are making a liveable wage, yes! Can you in good conscience support a business paying someone as low $2.13/hr in the U.S. without tipping the employee? If so, fuck you
So why should I not tip while ordering online. Also everywhere in the US they make the state mandated minimum wage if tips don’t exceed the threshold so I don’t need to hear the tired argument. We also know that servers make way above minimum wage anyway otherwise they wouldn’t be against moving to higher wages and no tipping. And what about the servers making 16 an hour base in California? Do they also need to get tipped on takeout even if they don’t make the “personalized” experience that they do when someone sits down? It takes way less time to do a take out order why should I tip half what I normally do? I’m not demanding anything like sit down I’m calling in my short order, driving there, going inside and picking up my food.
