We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we're here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge!

I'm pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you're new to /r/stopdrinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you're like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you've been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn't matter if you're still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, lets not drink alcohol!

This pledge is a statement of intent. Today we don't set out trying not to drink, we make a conscious decision not to drink. It sounds simple, but all of us know it can be hard and sometimes impossible. The group can support and inspire us, yet only one person can decide if we drink today. Give that person the right mindset!

What happens if we can't keep to our pledge? We give up or try again. And since we're here in /r/stopdrinking, we're not ready to give up.

What this is: A simple thread where we commit to not drinking alcohol for the next 24 hours, posting to show others that they're not alone and making a pledge to ourselves. Anybody can join and participate at any time, you do not have to be a regular at /r/stopdrinking or have followed the pledges from the beginning.

What this isn't: A good place for a detailed introduction of yourself, directly seek advice or share lengthy stories. You'll get a more personal response in your own thread.

GRAND RISING, SOBER WARRIORS!

AND BOSTON TRIPS OVER THEIR OWN DICKS AGAIN!-

Once again I come to the end of my hostess duties! I think today I just want to thank all of you amazing people for your wonderful support, love and kindness. It is never overlooked because y'all are so damn wonderful! Thanks for the love on my queer posting! Thanks to all the other queer sober folk who showed up! Y'all are the real MVP!

To all of you who spent your first week (or at least most of it): thank you for the honor! Keep up the good work and I hope to celebrate your three months by the time I get back. To all of you who had to restart this week: thank you for getting back on the horse! I'm glad to see most if not all of you have humility and understand that you couldn't stay away from sobriety. To those of you who hit big milestones this week: I'm so happy I got to be at the helm when you hit that threshold.

It always gives me joy to run the DCI as a service to all my fellow Sober Warriors and I always have a bit of a sad when I'm done. But all good things must come to an end.

But like Tool says: "I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random or whatever will bewilder me, whatever will be willed of me, and following our will and wind, we may just go where no one's been, We'll ride the spiral to the end, and may just go where no one's been. Spiral out, keep going, spiral out, keep going, spiral out, keep going, spiral out keep going!" Wherever my road takes me, I'll be back soon enough!

Today's question: What gave you the most joy this week?

Mine was finally realizing I'm over my ex, and just soaking in the noise of the early morning

I love all you wonderful people and for the last time until September 1st, IWNDWYT!
