Me personally, i love the chainsaw fight in 7. I love its mechanics and dialogue, but RE4’s Saddler fight is a very close second
What is your favorite boss fight from the RE games?
Forum questionGood choice.
Of the Birkin fights in the game, that one is my favorite (with my second favorite Birkin fight being G4)
Nemesis from the original RE3
Agreee, if I had to pick two particular encounters I’d go with the first meeting and the clock tower, both amazingly cinematic
Which?
All of them count, he is never defeated til the end
Having only recently played the original this week I have to agree. The dodge mechanics really made it great. I STRUGGLED on Mr X at the end of RE2 because of no dodging but RE3 makes movement and avoiding seem more fluid.
Same here. STARS!
Code Veronica Tyrant plane cargo bay fight (probably a minority here)
OG RE4 - Krauser (love the build up)
RE4 Verdugo (run, run, run)
OG RE3 waste plant Nemesis (I love how he's falling apart during the fight)
CV Nosferatu (always fun to perfect him with the sniper rifle)
OG RE4 - "It" Puzzle cages
"It" was so stressful back in the day! I remember feeling how RE4 would be so intense, then you'd get into a groove and the game would then break that groove with some new nonsense.
In the village fight, you learn that headshots, kneecaps, close quarters shooting and "run and pop and run" gameplay are effective strategies. Then: - you get to the waterfall and headshots become an extra risk because of the plagas sprouts - you get to the castle and keeping your distance is more important because of the plaga worms - you meet the garradors and have to unlearn running everywhere - you get to the island and meet Regenerators who leap at you if you kneecap them
"It" went against the grain of the usual increase in tension because it wasn't unlearning a strategy (which already maintained tension), but instead it challenged a set of skills at once that hadn't previously been combined. It was part puzzle, part QTE, and part boss battle. The only time before "It" that the game did that was in the first village siege where you got thrown in the deep end with enemy management, threat prioritisation, movement and actual shooting skills all at once for the first time.
The more I dwell on the original RE4 the more I appreciate just how thoughtfully it was made in terms of gameplay.
Head shots on villagers doesn't create an extra liability. The ones that are going to sprout Plagas will still do that even if you shoot them in the hand.
I might be wrong and I haven't played in about 10 years, but I've believed since my second ever playthrough that some enemies are guaranteed to pop a plaga or not (particularly in smaller fights), and some will pop a plaga if they die by headshot (particularly in more arena- or horde-style fights). I've been playing RE4make a lot lately and it's making me want to replay the OG again so I'll probably test the theory sometime.
I never thought about it on this deep of a design level. Very well said.
Awesome picks! Some of the most unique fights in the series
I’m sorry if I sound like a nitpicking jerk, but you meant OG RE3 with the waste plant, right?
Caught the typo, thanks.
Super Tyrant/ Mr X from RE 2 especially in the original, the set-up with the train and alarm as the self destruct counts down and then when he appears on fire with the music, thought it was the coolest thing ever as a kid.
Wish RE2R's Super Tyrant Mr. X was as cool as RE2's one tho
It’s not bad in the remake but the whole ending sequence in the original was better, the second self destruct on the train with G5, then Claire/Leon escaping by climbing on the roof or going under the train, Sherry hitting the emergency break and then it all blowing up! Was just way more action packed and thrilling.
I don't know if I could pick just one, but I want to throw out a mention for Miranda in RE8. Say what you want about that game, but I really felt like they perfected the boss fights in that game. All of them are so intense and expansive.
Bitores Mendez RE4 original. I first played it on ps2 and was terrified.
I quite like El Gigante. Either OG or remake. Probably remake cause it's just a better game to me.
For the soundtrack and the narrative stakes alone, the Jill battle from RE5 is a fantastic fight, not the pre-amble with Wesker, the main fight after he leaves. It's a great pay off to the Chris/Jill relationship and is a awesome climactic moment.
For sheer horror atmosphere though, Marguerite Baker in the Greenhouse from 7 is seriously brilliant and underated as a fight. Still makes my skin crawl.
Bruh the soundtrack from that Jill fight had me so emotional.
Was funny when Chris would be like “YOU DONT WANT TO DO THIS!!” As Jill roundhouse kicks the hell out of him after.
The boss I hate the most but have a soft spot for is propeller head in RE8. God he’s obnoxious and I always have to reload like ten times to beat him. But damn if that’s not a wild ass battle with pretty clear rules.
Re5 wesker and Jill followed by the Jill fight
Re6: the fight with Simmons
Re village: Heisenberg for that boulder punching asshole joke
Re4 remake: the knife fight with Krauser; way more fun and being able to parry his attacks and learn is really my favorite
RE5 - Chris vs. Wesker
Mainly for the fact that you can give Wesker the business up close and personal. Every single punch, hook, uppercut just feels satisfying.
And the counter which makes Wesker fall down feels so satisfying
RE5: Chris vs. the boulder
I have never really been a fan of re boss fights. I find gimmick fights are cool the first time but they become a bore on replays. And "pop the bubble" bosses are out dated. I think they finally figured it out with 4remake, though. Salazar is easily the most "bossfight" feeling boss fight in the entire franchise for me. It feels almost fromsofty of a fight because he'll just straight up murder you unless you get good at taking cover. And timing when you get to attack.
Jack in the garage in 7 was straight bonkers, the Sadler fight in Re4, the Nemesis fights always feel badass too
Final Boss RE revelations
A man of culture I see.
Jack Baker chainsaw fight.
Birkin
Jill vs Nemesis (OG RE3 Nemesis) before Final Battle. Everything there is perfect!!
I'm really enjoying some of the boss fights from the recent remakes. Like William Birken's first form. The way he is just fast enough to be on your back, but you can still very barely kite him, gives the fight great tension. Plus the way fog is used, just makes it such an improvement over the original G1 fight.
Another fight I enjoyed is Nemesis with the flamethrower on the rooftop of RE3 remake. The flame effects just looked amazing, and again I guess the fight felt kinda balanced.
Lady D
OG Verdugo fight in 4
and all of the Wesker fights in 5
7 minutes
Nosfetatu I will always remember him roaring and looking down on him from that room
Alexia Ashford, the one who discovered how to manipulate a branch of the Progenitor Virus without losing consciousness. Has the complex of a Queen Ant. And without a doubt the best Boss theme in the entire franchise.
Albert Wesker who is incredibly narcicistic and god like complex. Every word this man spit must be engraved in stone for future generations to enjoy.
T-002. Project: Tyrant. The reason you are here, the reason for the deaths of your team members is to collect battle data for the monsters who played god and created this premature abomination. Nobody knew that this was just the beginning.
And from all of them i choose...... the normal ass zombie that gets you when you have no herbs in your inventory!
moreau in re8 is really fun for me. i like landmines.
Ah yes which version of "walk backwards and shoot the weak spot" is the best.....
Tough question. But right now, I have to say Krauser in Re4make. Love the dialogue mid-fighting and the knife fighting is so satisfying. The way the light shines up from below the grating during the first fight is so gorgeous too.
I really like what they did with Krauser in the remake.
Super Tyrant from RE2 Remake.
Marguerite is just so grotesque.
Nemmy, clock tower. Emergency break version.
It's a nice glimpse towards his second form
The Snake in RE1 remake
The Crocodile in RE2 & Remake
Krauser in RE4
Saddler in RE4
Wesker w/ Jill RE5 Jill in RE5 (rescue) Wesker RE5 LiN
Marguerite RE7
Verdugo in OG4.
Honestly? None. The bosses are the weakest point of the RE games IMO.
Sokka-Haiku by Timberwolf_88:

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.
Between Nemesis at the Clock tower or the Verdugo fight from RE4.

Oh, hot take, but Re3R. I had such a hard time at first but makes the big ass gun rrreeeaaallly satisfying. I had many "bitches like cannons" moments and it was a rush.
Ayyyyyyy Hellsing Abridged mention~~~
Definitely Krauser. ❤️
The Verdugo and U3 from og RE4
7 minutes with Wesker, RE5 chapter 5-3
Krauser in RE4R is pretty incredible
Steve in Code Veronica, for the sole reason that he dies, and I don’t have to listen to his voice anymore.
Originally it was OG Nemesis 1st form, then became Norman from Revelations, then RE2 Remake Birkin 3rd form, at current its RE4 Remake Krauser knife fight. Love the remade knife fight so much I made a save on a Pro run dedicated solely to replaying that boss fight when I feel like it.
Queen Leech (RE0) , Birkin G-3 (RE2R), Nemesis in the Dead Factory (RE3), Krauser (RE4R), HAOS (RE6), Marguerite (RE7) and Miranda (RE8)
My top 5 are:
RE5 Wesker.
RE:3 Nemesis.
RE:4 Krauser.
RE:2 G3.
RE:4 Salazar.
Im gonna have to say Sadler from re4r
Super tyrant
Krauser by a long shot. I haven’t played the remake yet but I’ve heard mixed opinions on whether they made that fight better or worse
Oh yeah, that chainsaw fight was awesome! I also like the Moreau fight from Village, and the Benedito and Krauser fights from RE4, both versions.
None of them. By far my least favourite aspect of RE is the bosses.
miranda in resident evil 8 she has some pretty cool stages.
The final G fight in RE2Make. Not the blobby flesh in the train. The music is epic and really sets the tone.
Thantos in Outbreak File 1: Decisions Decisions
I think it’s funny when Thantos commits to an attack how far he’ll run if he doesn’t one hit a character. There’s also a few ways to make his fights fun such as laying on the ground as Jim with your AI teammates doing all the work (either cure or antivirus needed), shooting Thantos with Daylight, trying to grab an item but AI Kevin ran in front of you and got hit by Thantos instead, continuing to use Yoko’s doge move because she can’t run fast, running out of ammo because you were doing a no weapons run and didn’t give the AI anything, testing out David’s combinations, and getting a teammate killed because they didn’t dodge as you were getting Thantos’ blood
Krauser RE4
Resident Evil 3 Remake Nemesis Clocktower fight
RE4R Krauser. I also fuck with the Miranda fight from RE8.
Nosferatu in CVX, final Nemesis in RE3R, and Norman in Revelations. Hard to pick just one...
It’s so silly but I just love the Heisenberg fight so much.
Any OG Birkin fights
Krauser in Re4
I like most of the boss-tier enemies like Salvador and Mr. X & the other pursuer types a lot.
But I've never really liked the actual boss fights taking place in sealed arenas.
The chainsaw duel w jack, reminded me of chainsawing demons in doom
OGRE4 Saddler. Great setting, great mechanics, great music. It's easy, but it's so cool and so fun
I like where the boss have multiple stages and form.
Tyrant from the OG RE1 cause he is the easier lol
plus the dialogue between Wesker n Chris is hillarious :)
U-8 (is it the name? Or that elevator crab in case it's wrong), particularly as Sheva for the "Die, you abomination" quote when chucking a grenade for the 3rd time
RE3 Classic - Nemesis
RE4 Classic - Krauser
RE4 - Verdugo
RE5 - Wesker
- ustanak hand to hand fight
- wesker (jill & chris)
- ubistvo
- nemesis
- dimitrescu family
- jack baker (garage)
- saddler (leon)
- ustanak (airplane crash site)
- ogroman (two of hearts)
- tyrant (re1r - lab fight)
- mother neptune (quick but fun)
- garrador (annoying asf but rewarding when done with)
Sadler
Same here, O.P.
Re2- super tyrant Old re4- krauser Re5- wesker Re6- Simmons Re7- jack baker
I really like the Krasuer boss fight and the end game boss from Rev 1 and Rev 2
Salazar from OG RE4.
Either RE4R Salazar or Chainsaw Jack
I loved the bossfight in OG re3 where you had to shoot the valves to spray acid on Nemesis in the dead factory.
In RE4R the Krauser knife fight was so much fun too
RE2R G3
